Nah, the first definitely was supposed to have been definitly - I just copied some random mis-spellings of the word from posts on the forum.
Whinge over ......
Well, maybe I could think of another one

Why are DIY stares like film sets for 'Night of the Living Dead'? Is it only OAPs who actually maintain their house/garden anymore?
Conversely, why are there always schoolkids running the place? The girl at the till looked not a day over 14, and the guy I asked to direct me to the coach bolts looked like he'd just made the transition to grown-up pants. And as for the whereabouts of coach bolts, well I might as well have asked him to locate Area 51 on a map of South Wales.

You get that in Halfords too. Whenever I go to Halfords I get served by some bored emo kid whom I have obviously disturbed from staring into space and looking wistfully sad and unloved. Their knowledge of cars is unrepeatable.....literally!

Warming to this theme, here's my whinge for today.
I went to Homebase. Asked some little boy in short pants with a name label (presumably in case he gets lost) where's the bathroom shelving - Upstairs he points.....so I trudge with my other goods up these immensely steep stairs that seemed more like the north face of the eiger - dropped my stick twice - another slightly older 'worker' stood watching from the top, when I finally huffed up to the top looking for an oxygen tank, he says in a whiney nasally grating little voice "There's a customer lift over there"......Gggggrrrrrrr, thanks chaps!
Ooooh, another whinge today too!
Went to starbucks, she puts my card in the wotsit but I had to strain to lean over to tap me pin in, I was loaded down with bags and stick too, I tried to take it out of its holder and she grabbed it and said Ooohhhh you cant do that, its fixed! Well, it wasnt but it was on a very short wire, so as I struggled I politely asked "What would you do if a person using a wheelchair wanted to pay by card?" and she said "Oh thats no problem, we do it for them" --- "They TELL you their pin number????" -- "ummmm,, well no actually -- I THINK we still accept signatures for paying"......another GGGGRRRRRR......!!!!
Next time, I am going to take my wheelchair and pay by card again, just to be arsey!!
Moan moan moan....

When you come to Plymouth, can we go to a different coffee bar please? (I'll pay with cash, I promise!)

For sure. ACtually, I had no intention of going to starbucks ever, didnt like their underhand ethics a few years back, but didnt realise til I was inside (it was part of sainsbury) and I was nearly fainting with thirst and it was one of those 'out of town' stores.
Oh yeah AND the coffee was crap!

Years ago, before I ever needed a chair or stick, I was a volunteer for an organisation whose name escapes me, but I would take a person in a chair to all sorts of places like banks and cafes and assess access then advise them of problems.
This was long before the new laws came out, fat lot of good they've done judging by today!

Something that really winds me up is old farts moaning about the staff in B&Q, Homebase and Halfords. Maybe they only just started work, or maybe they are a little slow. Anyway at least they have actually got a job and aren't hanging around in the park drinking and doing dope. Give the kids a break people......
(yeah, my tongue just punctured my cheek)

| Well you could access the places ok, it was after that they were rubbish |
No not really Cmiso.
Access isnt just about physically getting in through the door, if I'd been a person in a wheelchair and on my own, or had more difficulty than I actually did 'accessing' the ability to pay....and the reality was also that every single table had 4 chairs around it, left stuck out by previous patrons, no room to manouvre a chair I am pretty certain (will find out next visit), didn't use the loos so dont know about that yet either....it doesnt have to be like that, the other week at a garden center with my old dad (he shuffles with a stick) a cafe worker actively unasked came over, took our tray, got what we wanted and found us a seat etc. all this and he was a young lad and it was his first day at the job - he said "my sister uses a wheelchair so I can see what help is needed".
Not having a dig at you at all, but in a way the very fact that you say that I accessed the place ok shows the lack of understanding which is pretty much across the board still.
PLEASE dont take that as a personal insult, because it isnt meant to be!!!
Yes okay Eddy i know i'm an old fart, so I shall shuffle off now and find somewhere else to do my moaning....bah humbug in my day.......
31.03.2009, 19:06 quote
I didn't, but they should choose a different word for it really.
Bet they train that out of the kid pdq. Helpfulness in the service industry just makes everyone else look bad.
As for the tables, yeah they just shove as many as can humanly fit in there, more tables there are the more money can be made, mind you usually find that they in those fours and 2 or 3 per table are unused. Odd really. But then I hate coffee anyway
