Brandon Vedas hung himself in front of his webcam watched by so called chatroom friends, possibly being egged on by some of them who probably didn't believe he'd do it.

Apparently he had loads of problems, and he's dad died recently Sad

I agree Louby, the Police are apparently looking into charging some of the people with 'assisted suicide'

Not nice to say, but you can maybe imagine how it happened. Confused

I dont think the egging on had a huge bearing, if he was going to commit suicide anyway it woudnt have mattered whether or not anyone said anything. He obviously wanted to be seen doing it he wouldnt have been showing the world his departure on a web cam.

Agreed, but I wonder how many people told him not to do it, and tried to talk him out of it ??

id say the same thing if youre gonna do it, then get on with it and stop being an attention seeking emo.

You have no idea what-so-ever as to what prompted his getting to that state! He may have been seeking attention, but without knowing why, you cannot treat him in that way.

Suicide, or it's attempt, is not always a thought out process. If you're feeling like hell, and you voice the idea of suicide to someone, it does not always mean you're going to. But if the person you voice it to then says 'go on do it, nobody cares anyway', it just adds further to the feeling of inadequacy and could be all the push that is required to take them over the edge.

I'm shocked at your reaction to someone who obviously needed a great deal of help Sad

My brother commited suicide 18 months ago, so Im sorry that I dont have much sympathy for someone who goes online and says "hey look at me Im gonna kill myself".

But I think someone who plans out their demise and executes it in such a fashion is clearly of sane mind and knows exactly what they are doing.

And my mother nearly succeeded when we were small children resulting in us going back into the childrens home we'd just come out of, hence my having plenty of sympathy.

Someone who plans their suicide usually is determined to do it. Whether you plan your suicide or not is not the biggest indicator of being of sound mind or not.

With the greatest of respect for your loss, and your opinion, can I suggest that it is precisly because of the lack of sympathy and love, that many of those so devoid of hope, feel that they have no alternative.

I would also consider that someone who plans their demise, whether they do it live on the web or otherwise, is as far from a sane mind as you can get - by its very nature!

I agree mate, anybody who tries to commit suicide needs help and every endeavor should be made to stop them them from doing it. I was there for my brother when he tried to commit suicide last year, probably why he's still alive.

This happened in January 03. How come you've decided to bring it up now?

If you check out the link below you can actually read the log of what was said in the chat room..Beware it makes pretty harrowing reading and I believe the police in the US should do something about the twats telling him to take more drugs however in my opinion it does read like the lad was trying to 'impress' (impress may be the wrong word) his forum mates by the amount of drugs he had taken rather than a traditional suicide attempt

The reason I've decided to bring it up today is because its been on news 24 all day today and his brother was interviewed.
