Hey, I'm a nice guy!
Ok, maybe you are right, I actually think that five hours would be a miracle in itself (without divine intervention)

There is no easy yes or no answer to the question Chet, I dont think.

Well thats the point exactly. There are so many shades of grey in life that simple black and white thinking, a simple yes or no answer, doesn't really cover it.

Totally agree ............... if for whatever reason my kids were starving and needed food i would steal it ............. anyone would x

Stealing/theft is always wrong, regardless of the reason for it.

Forgiveness for stealing is the grey area..........

I dont think i would. i have a gun and can catch wild meat, and know where to find free food in the forests, fish in the sea etc.
And the bit in the bible about "thou shalt not steal" is pretty important to me personally.

What I was saying earlier, i've seen people in court for stealing food for their starving kids (and clothes etc) because they'd spent all their money (sometimes earned, not always dole benefits) on alcohol, illegal drugs, computer games.....so I am not convinced Ann-Marie that you really mean "for whatever reason". I rather think you mean specific, desperate reasons. *that* is a whole different kettle of cabbages.

Well of course Alice ............ eveything i do is for my kids ............ and the money i earn goes on them and nothing else. I could say something about those people that spend all there money on drugs etc .......... but i wont Evil or Very Mad

I guess what i am saying is what Baggie said, its not black&white, some people deserve sympathy and understanding - some just a good kick up the bum!
Some people steal for the adrenalin rush, that cant be acceptable surely.
To muddy the waters still, I read an autobiography about a guy who stayed alive in Auschwitz by stealing bread from those more feeble/sick than he. Was he wrong? After the war, he went on to help find better medication for cancer and diabetes. Should he have not stolen food in the prison camp, and died there?

on this i have to say i dont think it is wrong for a poor man to steal bread for his starving family.

If my family or kids were starving i wouldnt think twice about stealing bread to feed them , i would defo go for it.

Stealing is wrong whoever does it regardless of who they are stealing from. However, if my kids were going hungry I'd do it.

I don't agree with someone stealing food if what little money they have goes on drink, drugs or even feeding an animal if they can't feed themselves.

If you can afford a license for a gun, you can afford to buy food. If you can afford a fishing license, you can afford to buy food Smile

Basically, the chances of foraging for food (especially meat/fish) in this country and not paying for it in some way (poaching is illegal, therefore theft) are slim.

Very little is actually free.

Totally disagree with you there Red! Firearms certificate is £40 per year, fishing licence I think was £48 (for the year). Who can feed their family for less than £90 per year?
There is still very much for free around - You just have to know what and where to look.
