I think its better to have no pic at all than a pic that is 5 or 10 years old, if you are intending on meeting someone whats the point having an old one showing? I reply to most as long as the message is of a reasonable content, with or without picture, I also like a good profile, shows that the person has made an effort...I find its the genuine ones that bother to fill in all the boxes
