I know this sounds dim but how do you post a picture up on your profile? I have one in my gallery but am struggling...any help would be appreciated .

It may not have been approved yet.

And as for this thread, I very rarely reply to somebody that doesn't have a picture - I like to know who i'm talking to.

If somebody without a picture contacts somebody with a picture, then chances are, that person won't respond.

Personally, before I had my pic up and I was posting on this message board, I had quite a few people contact me, since I've had my picture up hardly anyone. From this site anyway.

Is personality over looks a myth??

No. They're as important as each other, to a fair amount of people. However, on the interwebs, I think looks pummel personality.

I agree in real life personality probably matters over a period of time, but I am talking about on the net.

On the net women are often taken in by a player with a fake picture and a crappy personality. Seems the better the picture, the more rude and ignorant they can be. A user with a good picture being rude is often giggled at by a women, a user without a good picture being rude...is rude.

That's probably not true with all women, and definitely not all men.

When I first came on these type forums, I didn't have a picture up for a long time, and I had quite a few messages congratulating me on the quality of my posts from women wanting to chat to me. I also got a few replies from the few messages I sent out.

That all went out the window when I put my first picture up.

In all fairness though.. wouldn't you rather they knew what you looked like before hand, then just being somebody without a face in the forums?

I personally would want people to know who i am before they spoke to me. if they did like my personality, then after i showed them a picture of myself, they could easily scream and run away and not be the person who they thought i would be or who i thought they actually were. Might as well be honest, what cha gonna lose?

Having no pic at all is much worse than an 'ugly' pic. It raises too many questions.

And yes, just like in real life, people are written off on their appearance before they even open their mouths. Thats just human nature. You're not going to cure that one any time soon.

Effort counts for a lot though. Grainy webcam pics that look like a scene from a Jacques Cousteau film are just piss poor. And if someone gets creative with the camera angle to hide their double chin then at least it shows a bit of thought, even if the end result does look like something out of Batman.

I wouldn't say people with pics are anymore honest then some people without pics, in some cases probably the opposite. I've met too many people with pics that are 15 years old and touched up pics, to know that.

I've found that not enough people actually look like their pics for it to be a good guide. Some look better and some look worse. Even to the point I haven't recognised some people.

But I understand why people want pics, probably makes them feel more secure.

People have said I look better btw

...and that doesn't raise questions?? I disagree as that is not being honest. If you are going to put up a pick it should be warts n all.

Of course it raises questions. But at least it shows theres something going on upstairs. Which counts for a lot in my book. Its a double-edged sword though; on the one hand you have someone who knows how to make the most of what they've got, but theres always the risk you might have someone who has issues with the way they're look. And theres nothing more unattractive than a woman who isn't comfortable with her own body, no matter what shape its in.

Nobody is honest on dating sites. They're either economical with the truth or just embelish a little. Its no different than meeting someone in the flesh. We've all got skeletons and we all paint over the cracks to some degree. If we gave away everything from day one it wouldn't be much fun.

I think your find theres loads of people on the site that are honest, bit unfair to say otherwise ! If you take this site seriously, and you want to meet someone, then being honest on here is critical as the truth wouldn't be that hard to find out ! I don't like the thought of "everyone" on this site being dishonest about something or rather, i know obviously alot of people are but for those of us that are honest fuckers... well enough said. This is probably why i haven't had any messages since i joined a few months back. I have only recently put a photo on my profile. Not a good one but it will do for now till i can get some decent ones.

No offense here curvycloxx, and I really don't want to appear patronising, but you're 18. When you've done the rounds a little you'll come to realise that everyone, absolutely no exceptions here, has something to hide. Especially when it comes to relationships.

Whether it materialises when you meet them for the first time, or a few weeks/months down the line, everybody has something they'd rather not let other people know about straight off the bat.

I get your point, and i know i have many years to go...when you put it like that though, yes of course everyones got their own personal things they don't want to share, but thats nothing to do with being honest or dishonest.. it's when its highlighted in a conversation would it be classed as either... but hey ho, its each to their own!

I'm probably one of the exceptions to the rule you forgot to mention, as I've never had a relationship. Which probably makes women think I'm hiding something

Maybe not quite the same but would you walk into a bar with your eyes closed and start chatting to someone not knowing what they look like ??????? Well i know i wouldn't ........ it's just part of life that you have to be physically attracted to someone as well there personality.
