I don't know where I'm gonna spend New Year's and I want y'all to give me some advice on where would be a great place to spend New Years at. I dunno if I'm gonna spend it in London or not... Maybe I'll try another place.
In the UK anyways. Where are the greatest parties? Greatest peeps? etc
p.s. Maybe I should've posted this in the Holidays section, but I think peeps are more likely viewing "anything else" than "holidays". Anyways, please move it if it should be moved. Thanks.

If you've never spent a New Year's Eve' in Edinburgh then I would highly recommend it! Even if you don't go to the street party, there is a great atmosphere all over town, not to mention an awesome fireworks display.
It's also a good opportunity to meet people, because tourists come from all over the world for it. You could even go to a Ceilidh and snap up a sexy man in a kilt! I actually think Hogmany (as we call it) is fun anywhere in Scotland but I'm probably biased!

I spent new year/old year's night in scotland with my dad when i was about 12 - dont recall the name of the place, somewhere near loch lomond - never had so much fun in my life!
This year I'll be on my own with my 15 yrs old son so will probably just go to bed and sleep it through

Yep have to agree Bliss, Scotland is the best place to be for New Year. I dont think I could ever spend it anywhere else

I will be spending a lonely NYE here, again. My son is now at the age where he wants to stay up and celebrate, all i want to do is go to bed and sleep through it all cause it always makes me cry.

If it makes you feel better Ill be doing the same thing. I always avoid New Years Eve like the plague in my shithole town because the locals go nuts. I have no intention of starting the new year with a broken nose thank you.

Aww, thanks for the hug Chief, much needed.
Hmmm, might have to come up with some sort of plan for this year. Other than getting totally wasted!!!

Why aren't ya meetin Chet, Bex?
And as Cheeky would put it, many people viewing the topic, few answers. Great answers, but I want more. I'm seriously considerin' Edinburgh now.

Well I didnt answer as a few people had already said Edinburgh, which is great, the atmosphere is amazing, same goes for Glasgow if you celebrate it in George Square. I've never celebrated it in any other country so cant comment.
This year I will probably do as last year and just have some friends over, I'm geting too old for standing outside in the cold
Whatever you choose hope its a good one Bliss!!!

I want to stand out in the cold and watch fireworks light up the sky, then drink lots of champagne!! And kiss lots of strangers!

Ditto Becky, dont really like New Years that much but dont really get the opportunity to go out anymore with the kids and can never get a Babysitter on New Years Eve for some reason, would love to go to one big party somewhere and just let my hair down ................... x

I thought Edinburgh when I read this thread this morning. Normally I just go out with my mates to a couple pubs. Which is okay
