Ok, i have noticed that there seems to be a thing about going off topic on here. What i dont understand is, that in conversations, things do come up and people do start to talk about more wider things than a topic because that is how conversation works. So in that case, are we supposed to keep starting new topics everytime a topic steers a little off course? Cos if so, it sounds a lil rubbish to me.

Is a bit odd..but isn't that bad if it isn't strictly adhered too. Would ruin the board if they started deleting and moving posts around. Wont know where we are.

well personally i don't mind a little veering from topic... as long as it get's back ON topic. if something gets way off topic and the original post has been forgotten...i'll remind ppl... if i'm not listened to and the chat is still ot i'll lock her down.
soz guys but that's what i'm here for...... that's what all the mods are here for

I dont mind a little going of topic myself, but if it starts happening because 2 people are just yapping with themselves, then yeah..its bloody annoying i find..
Even worse though is when topics are started about absoulutely stupid things..as these will just wander of topic from the beginning because of lack of substance to start with..

Since I've been on here, I've noticed the mods can be as bad as anyone..but that's life, Do as we say not as we do!!
But rules have to be bent a little sometimes.

nope..I should have put 'some'
Rules are a paradox though, we all need rules, but quite often we all break them. Also sometimes rules are not clear and are open to interpretation, which is a big problem in football. An example is the 'no going off topic rule', often we are reliant on the judgement of the mods to decide if a topic is 'off subject', and when to remove a post. Maybe good judgement is knowing when to bend the rules a little and when to put your foot down ??

i think that all the mods here do a good job in doing just that! Most of the time we all do give some form of leeway to posts and threads. Its only wehn the post should become personal or so far off the orriginal post that we then tamp on it to get back on track.... I know that some views can often start further discussions following the the first posting and this is then, when judgement is often used and reviewed before taking the appropriate action to it! To be honest all those who think that the moderators job is easy, should think again! as it sometimes can be a headachefor us all, on whats accepted and what is not? Not always an easy task
