With todays modern games I find it hard to go back to the old classics.

I never had a megadrive, but I grew up with a Commodore 64. That kind of shows me up for being an old basturt I suppose! My first ever game on it was called 'Revenge of the Mutant Camels' and you controlled a 90ft high camel that could leap and bound and shoot laser spit out of it's mouth at such enemies as flying teapots and mutant llamas. My dad got into into it as well, but he would lose his rag and he ended up breaking my quickshot joystick grrrr.

In retrospect, saying I had a quickshot joystick could well be taking the wrong way so forget about that bit!

The C64 was class, I had one of those and remember the game you're talking about. It was a hippy bloke called Jeff Minter who used to write those games wasn't it, if I remember rightly? Wonder what he's up to these days. Do you remember the follow up, "Sheep in Space"??? It was great, a sort of Defender/Scramble clone but with you controlling a flying sheep.

I loved Sheep in Space! You had to set the Space Sheep down onto the grass every now and again for it to eat as it would die if it got too hungry, but you had to be careful not to eat to much else your sheep would explode.

I'm going to sound like a total geek here, but I met Jeff Minter and he signed my copy Iridis Alpha!

*I was 13 c'mon*

Hahahaha, that's right, bloody brilliant game that was, I used to sit playing that for hours on end. They don't make 'em like that any more.

Good to see the love here for 'California Games', but arguably the Master System version was superior? Nothing more satisfying than nabbing a 1000point diving left handed catch on the Frisb..sorry, Flying Disc discipline.

'Sonic 2' was of course the Megadrive's finest moment - linear, but with genuine depth. And 16years on, I can STILL remember the level select cheat...! Wink
