All this about nowadays kids of 13 look older and have love younger is rubbish, people have been saying that since the 1960s. Since diet improved after the end of rationing in the mid 1950s children have been much better fed and so look older. In the 1960s there was an economic boom and a massive increase in living standards which led to widespread younger love. In reality it is since about the mid 1960s that 13 year olds have looked older and people have started to have love much younger. Unless you count the era from the stoneage to the middle ages.
Back on topic 15 years is a hell of a long time to sentence someone who is only 17 himself even if he did actually have love with a 13 year old knowing her to be 13. Many people serve less for murder. Though with remission he will probably only serve 5 years but that is still a long time. The boy should not recieve a custodial sentence on grounds of his young age. At worst he should have got probation.

I've scoured the net to try to find out more about this, not just the speculation you get in some papers. I'm trying to find out one simple thing, to no avail.
Exactly *what* is this lad being prosecuted for? Does anybody know what is the charge? I understood that the charge was having love with an underage girl - but that apparently has been disproved by doctors, so surely there is no case?
Does anybody know? It;s so hard to sift the truth from opinion (presented as fact) by the papers.
Just a thought - having 'religion' myself - I don't understand where these girls parents are coming from - it does not equate being religious making them want the poor boy to suffer the maximum? There has to be a bit of humanity mixed in there surely. He's just a kid himself for goodness sake, its not like we are even talking rape is it.

Basically he is charged for something like "having had indecent contact with a 13 year old girl" - which does not necessarily mean having had love...as far as I know. It is a fact though they had not had love.
To the Turkish authorities, it does not matter whether he is 17 or 50.
They also do not care about the circumstances, whether the girl "looked like 15" or "pretended to be 15" or not....as it would be illegal in any case.
In most countries for example, under 18s could have love in theory - as both are underage...not in Turkey.
Another difference between Turkey and civilized countries is, that laws are 100% strict and do not look at circumstances in each case.
In civilized countries, your future is never destroyed by a judge unless you have killed someone or repeatedly raped lots of people.
If you are 17 and sent to prison for 15 years, your life is destroyed and this should only be a penalty if it is something extremely serious and evil. In Turkey there are many cases like this - often people commit suicide in prisons and Marcos parents also fear he might commit suicide.
