Just wondered if any men here have a grooming ritual? Or even wear male makeup?

I’m not ashamed to say that I groom, but I think this is more an ‘older man’ thing, where hair starts growing where it never used to. Although it doesn’t bother me, I still like to take care of my general appearance, and groom regularly (especially ears & nose), but without making it seem like a vanity thing.

Edit: Um, grooming equipment includes some posh Tweezerman tweezers and Tweezerman 7x mirror and a spiffy little nasal and ear trimmer. And yes, I read fashion and beauty magazines (only to keep up with changing trends in the industry, you understand Very Happy Oh, and I read hair dressing magazines (not that I have much on ma heed), I like to be informed.....

I think you have a great attitude to grooming, but I don't think men always own up to it.

Over the years I've always found that men take longer than the women grooming themselves in the bathroom then make excuses as to why they've taken so long.

In general, I think it is a topic of conversation that men avoid with their friends. I have a couple of hairdresser friends who do talk about such things, although even they make it light-hearted; I think most men might find it an embarrassing subject. I'm kind of past that stage myself, and and quite knowledgeable about different brands tweezers and trimmers @-D I don't find a little regular grooming takes much time at all, it's just an extension of shaving.

My ex partner took the piss out of me when I started dating a woman 15 years younger than me, as I used a facial exfoliator. I swear it was just coincidence that I used it at that time (it was on sale in Tesco), I had no confidence issues with dating a much younger woman

If you consider taking a shower grooming then that is it. While in there i shave my face, arms, legs and head. No tweezers needed, yet.

I've had to trim my nose hairs since I was 15. At one staged I used bonsai shears until I bought a proper tool. Wink

Other than the normal shave (which I leave for a day or two sometimes if I know I'm not going out) I just keep my man-bush nice and trimmed.

Oh yeh, that too Very Happy

Oh, and a array of nail tools. Other 'grooming' rituals includes a foot tool that I use to get tobacco stains off my thumb (and another for my feet). Like I said in the original post, I think it's an age thing. some of you guys havea lot to look forward to Very Happy

I trim my ear and nose hair with various implements. You do seem to get more as you get older and I hate it. Nothing worse then hairy ears and nose

My 13 yr old son cleanses and moisturisers his face every morning and has done off his own bat for about a year. Very Happy

Which damned gods decided it would be a laugh to give us nasal hairs and hairs in our ears!
I have to trim the damn things ever few weeks!

Shaving? If I can remember and get it together in my madhouse, then what do I find after gumming up useless multiblade razors? That it looks like I need a shave AFTER I'VE SHAVED!

And then there the worse.....no I don't think I'll talk about that Evil or Very Mad

Nightmare is shaving, takes me ages in the morning! I find the Mach 3 razors are really good though, and I do have quite a thick stubble. I used to get loads of shaving irritation but find the Nivea For Men aftershave balm sorts that out. Wish I didn't have to shave though, would mean that I might catch my bus on time in the morning Laughing

I like men who take pride in their appearance (grooming)

1) clean shave - Mac 3 usually works best
2) after shave balm or moisturiser, after shaving
3) trim nose and ear hair
4) keep your ''bits'' tidy Wink
5) and a good splash of decent aftershave, no old spice or brut!

Being sensitive to certain soaps, I have to be careful, as for aftershave, never bothered with it. Would'nt want to run the risk of finding yet more allergies to various scented stuff.

Now nails....theres a problem, I end up worrying about the damn things like a woman! Such the tendency to loose one in a painful manner at work.

*Admits to having a can of Brut, which I spray on the odd occasion as a reminder of my teenage years* Embarassed

And very thankful of a thoughtful gift that DH brought me, would never have thought of using it for that purpose! Very Happy

As for male grooming from a female point of veiw, it's really nice when a guy looks after himself, theres nothing wrong with fella's using facial cream ect.. (whoops, sorry DH!..) etc.... Wink
