Missme is, I think we all agree, quite correct although there are ways of disagreeing with somebody without hurting their feelings.

If I use the recent posting regarding Boobies as a case in point:

The first post in itself was, perhaps, a little over-dramatic albeit well intentioned. However, some of the posts that followed became nothing more than scathing critisisms that were knee-jerk reactions.

Now, I can't disagree with the content of the reactions, indeed, my own posting on the matter did attempt to put some perspective on the whole thing although not sucessfully enough. What I did find a little harsh was the manner in which the replies were structured.

We all know that Karen is very sensitive. Therefore, a little consideration to her feelings could perhaps have been made.

I think, in essence, what I'm trying to say is whilst there should never be a need to "armpit foot" around people, there is no excuse for a lack of respect for the other users and part of that is knowing what kind of reply is appropriate to the person you're posting to.

I know, for example, I could say to somebody like Morillo "you're talking out of your arse" - He wouldn't take offence at that and, more than likely, reply with something equally quick witted.
Others, however, would take that as a personal insult so a more suitable reply would be needed.

Did that load of rambling make sense ?

Hope so

Of course, if you come on here setting a low tone with the first post then you have to expect that replies are going to be of a similar nature so it's no use complaining and getting in a huff Wink

You'd be surprised at the people that would get upset if someone a bit stronger then them had a go at them...there's been a lot of hypocrisy on here in the last week or so.

bloody hell...got my own thread locked so this would stop...

its over and done with..lets move on

So it seems you can give your opinion about the board and members on the board on another thread, but you claim I might be breaking the rules when I do it ?? Missme and Cidem can give their opinions but I cant ?? Seems odd to me that you have a go at me because I make a post on topic ??
Maybe the truth hurts for some of the more sensitive and fragile amongst us.

i havent read all of this thread coz im in a rush but i want to add my two cents

I have observed that in the past, being molly coddled by us mods has really pissed people off, and i engineered the new guidelines to remove that aspect of our job, pretty much now, so long as you stay with the guiidelines, you can say anything you like to each other and we wont step in until asked too. unless of course the thread turns into flamebait.

trolling isnt allowed either, this is the same as flamebait, so basically folks, im asking you all to be big girls and boys and wipe your own back-sides, if however you find you loo-roll isn't big enough then you should come to us, we run the loo-roll factory and slurry farm and have great big locks to keep things in order.

at the end of the day we all have our opinions, and no matter how outlandish those opinions are there is no reason to attack someone over their opinions, you can oppose them sure, but dont think a clash of opinions is a free gateway to a slanging match, coz it aint Smile

all in all, i want you to have fun, this is an adult board after all, so we should all act like adults, we should all know right from wrong, and if we dont, then we should go and read the guidelines, they are forum do'd and dont's so to speak Smile

ok essay over, as you were Razz

Apparently some of us ain't allowed to give our opinions. Some can start disparaging threads, but then are selective who can reply to them. Its alright for other to perpetuate certain points but not me.

Must be the clique in action.
