Home >> Anything else >> Just to make u feel slightly better about the price of fuel
26.07.2008, 14:11 quote
All these examples do NOT imply that petrol is cheap; it just illustrates how outrageous some prices are....
You will be really shocked by the last one!
(At least, I was...)
Compared with Petrol......
Think a gallon of petrol is expensive?
This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.
Diet Snapple 16 oz £1.29 .. £10.32 per gallon
Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz £1.19 .............£9.52 per gallon
Ocean Spray 16 oz £1.25 ......... £10.00 per gallon
Brake Fluid 12 oz £3.15 .. £33.60 per gallon
Vick's Nyquil 6 oz E8.35 ... £178.13 per gallon
Pepto Bismol 4 oz £3.85 . £123.20 per gallon
Tippex 7 oz £1.39 ....... . £5.42 per gallon
And this is the REAL KICKER...
Evian water 9 oz £1.49..£21.19 per gallon!
£21.19 for WATER and the buyers don't even know the source
(Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)
You don't even want to compare it with perfume or after shave.
Ever wonder why printers are so cheap?
So they have you hooked for the ink.
Someone calculated the cost of the ink at................
(you won't believe it....but it is true........)
£5,200 a gal.. (five thousand two hundred pounds)
So, the next time you're at the pump,be glad your car doesn't run on water, or Tippex, Pepto Bismol, Nyquil or God forbid, Printer Ink!

I can feel a rant coming on, but I might offend someone again, so I wondered if my esteemed colleague titwhipper would like to do the honours? Just a quick one about the metric system not being more widely adopted in the UK would suffice

Sorry i'm so thick, anyone else want to have a go?

Just when I thought things couldnt get any worse, oh well! sure I will get over it ![]()

Not entirely sure that the measuring system is particularly relevant to the point about costs. Whether to use metric system is a bit odd when it comes to driving anyway as most comparisons on fuel consumption seem to be mpg still.
But anyway in the same vein as the fuel protesters spending money on fuel to drive slowly in convoy I shall buy lots of ink and print a huge number of letters complaining about ink costs.

And I shall consume a large quantity of pepto bismal in protest at its cost
I'll be dropping firm ones for weeks

On the fuel price did anyone else hear about edf putting up gas and elec prices by nearly 25%???
JUST ANOTHER CASE OF RIP OFF BRITAIN

The mile and yard in road markings, are exempt from metric measurments in the uk, and for the pint for beer and milk too. The rest is metric. Like it should be. Like the rest of the world, except for The United States of America, because like all good pompus brits imperialism is the way forward...
27.07.2008, 02:13 quote
I thought milk is now sold per litre?
I still ask for a pint, just to piss them off!
Funny, when I go to the local farmers market/store, if I ask the older staff for 8 ounces of cherries, etc. they do just that, if I ask a younger member of staff they look blank and say "whats that mean eh?"
Anyway, I say Bllleeehhhhhh
I'm NOT a pompous brit imperialist, its just what I am comfortable with. So there!
