Hey guys and girls, as I have mentioned before I have been unemployed for a while now having left the Arcadian as a security guard in March this year. Over the past couple of days I have been talking to a friend who still works there. Apparently my old boss has left and an old friend is the new manager. Conditions have improved and the new boss, who is basically another one of the guards I worked with who got promoted, is interested in getting me back on the team. I would love to go back and work with people that I trust, plus of course it is good money...HOWEVER...there are many bad memories. Plus I feel that if I return to my old job it is like admitting defeat in seeking new employment...so what do you think? Do I don my uniform once more and become a drunken persons guardian angel again, or do I continue my search?

It depends on if you liked the job before or not.
If not...forget about it, and find another one.

BUT, at the end of the day, it's money you'll be getting out of it - A job is a job, I guess.

Yeah I think it's about time I stopped taking money off you tax payers too lol, I need to talk to this fella tomorrow and see what the story is but I think it's a 99% chance I will take it, need the cash and as has been noted...it's nearly Christmas. I do enjoy security work, although "you lot" seem to think all we do is sit around...trust me that's not the case, which it was but it's not...funny thing is all of my friends there said "you will be back!!!" Kinda scary lol

Well the temp scene is slower than a snail in a wheelchair here in Birmingham, I'm registered with about 20 agencies and not one of them has work suitable for me. It's like they think that because I used to be a security guard I must be retarded or something cos I can't even get an agency job sweeping the streets!!!

Well the agencies advertise loads of jobs but when you call them they claim they have filled all the jobs they have...including the ones that appeared on their windows ten seconds before I called about them!!! I actually raised the fact that these agencies seem to be advertising jobs that don't exist and to my surprise my advisor actually said that is exactly what the do!!! Noboby can prove the job doesn't exist so to get loads of people registered they put up job vacancies they don't actually have and then when you register they just say the job has been filled. This isn't too say none of the vacancies exist, some do but about 30% of the advertised jobs don't. I hate agencies, they should be closed down! Why can't company managers get off their u know what's and place an ad' themselves?

Its better to work with friends than to work with people who give you needless grief, if you've got buddies in the job, and the cash is good. Id say go for it. I know your doing it anyway but set yourself the time limit of christmas and sure see what the story is then.

Well Hungryone, I was just chatting to a friend and we have both worked in Aberdeen. We'd both go back there without an argument and as for the job, well, they say its easier to get another when you allready have one.

However, do what your heart tells you to do

I'm gonna phone the fella in charge tomorrow morning and as long as he doesn't think I'm gonna beg for my job and is offering hours that will make a good wage packet then I will take it. I do like security work and like I said before the people I will be working with are people I know and trust, I guess I will know tomorrow morning/afternoon....knowing my luck he will call in sick and I will have to wait a week...
