Because they have not chased it, played up to it, and made sure they were on the front pages of the newspapers day after day.

Its called having class and dignity. Something, from the moment she walked into Big Brother, you could never associate Jade Goody with.

Its horrible that anybody has cancer, but as Jim (I think it was) said previously, I'm not going to be two-faced about it. I have never liked her, and always treated her celebrity as an insult to those with more talent and who work harder but get ignored just because they don't have the right agent, or aren't plastered all over Heat magazine.

P.S., I have heard it mentioned that the government will make it known they have given up trying to get Fred Goodwin to give back his pension on the day Jade Goody dies to distract everybody. Keep an eye on that one.

The general public never fail to bemuse me.
I guess it's down to who your publicist is, and who's flavor of the month.
What I find so very sad is give it 12 months (if poor jade is no longer with us then) just how many people will even recall who she was, her name, her children's names etc. The whole sad affair will sink into oblivion and be forgotten when new 'gossip' rears its ugly head.

Because everybody has a choice in life and in death. How people choose to deal with it can only be up to them. If they have chosen to stay out of the media then all respect to them and to the media for also respecting their choice. Nothing of what any of them choose to do can be said to be right or worng.

I've already said how I feel about her doing it so I'm not going to go into it again. But isn't Jade being in the papers every day made people talk and raised awareness of not just cervical but also other cancers. Look how many have been brought into this thread alone. Would we have talked about such a painful subject for some if it wasn't for Jade??? It's got to be doing some good surely as it raises awareness and maybe makes people check a bit more closely??

I admire Jade for trying to raise money for her childrens future but I really hate Max Clifford's role in the whole business (and the Press as a whole). I get the feeling that if he thought there was money in it, after being christened, he would have her dunked in the Thames in a baptism sponsored by 'The Sun'. Why are the press trying to re-invent her as the new Princess Di? Thousands of people are currently suffering from cancer and yet she is the national beacon for national grief.

I agree Dom ........... the poor grl doesn't even know what day it is now, so probably has no idead of the media coverage surrounding her anymore

Love her or hate her all Jade is guilty of is being herself from the moment she appeared on our screens, if she has become a 'celebrity' thats because of the public wantng to read about her or see her on our screens.

I have nothing against the girl and all she has done is secure her childrens future, which if you are all honest and had the opportunity would do the same.

She is a 27 year old girl with 2 little boys who will soon be without there Mum. I would feel the same if it was anyone n the same situation, they just aren't all highlighted in the media.

I have no doubt Mr Clifford will expolit the situation until the end, but i think its time she was allowed to die in peace with her family around her and not the paparazzi

That's what I was saying, it takes our minds off the recession. I feel very sad for her, she had a shite life before BB from what I've read and is now being exploited to sell newspapers.
(yes ok she's invited the attention, but I dont think she's canny enough to really have the upper hand - sure she might make a few bob for her kids, but who will get the most dosh out of this?!).

Yep poor girl.
I just hope the media let her rest in peace now, her family have enough on their plates without the blinking papparazi in their faces at a private time like this.

i find it hard to know what i feel on the issue because the area is so grey

yes i feel sorry that she had cancer i am also sorry that she has now died of it

but i still think she was a fame hungry moron who didn't deserve any of the fame she recieved and i definatly think think her "stardom" should have died a death after the shilpa think

i also think that anything that makes people more aware of cancer is, for the mostpart, a good thing.

but turning her into some kind of cancer martyr purely because she was famous is wrong

there are also another few other feelings i have on the subject that are so complex that i actually don't think i could explain them so i won't

i shall end this by saying i wish her family well, especially her sons who i think were the only truly innocent victims here and i hope for their sake (tho i realise it is a very very long shot) the media will leave them to morn privatly

My priest gave me a daffodil this morning for mothering sunday - so I shall put mine up at the churchyard this afternoon 'for jade' although it will go with the other flowers I am taking for my friend rupert's grave.
I've always thought of mothers day just another hype like valentines, but it's so sad she died today of all days, for her poor little boys.
No matter whether she was clever, daft, fame hungry or shy of the camera, cancer is a horrible way to go.

I just heard the news.

R.I.P. Jade, your life force will live on in others.
She had such courage for someone so young.

Make us all think.
