Hi Guys, just stumbled across this thread as I was having the exact same dicussion here in the office... It seems that Jade is (and will be) the topic of a lot of peoples conversations until she passes away. The media attention would have always been there... even if she had decided she didn't want to be photographed or interviewed. I think she's taken this on baord and has decided to get as much out of it as they (the media) are getting out of it!

I don't necessarily agree with her approach, but I can see why she has decided upon it. It just breaks my heart seeing pictures of her going into a hospice, crying and in pain!

I've never really like Jade Goody as a person and have found her to be slightly annoying over the years. But I guess you can't help but feel sorry for her and her family at this time...

Well you will all be glad to know that my tests for cervical cancer which I was waiting on the results for came back clear.

I didnt know you were having tests, but I'm glad they are clear Smile

Thanks Jeg. Only a couple of people on here actually knew about it. Part of the reason why I havent been here much lately among other things. But this is why I am so strongly for what she is doing.

Speaking as Darkhorse now (rather than my egotistical 3-legged dog), I have no thoughts one way or another about Jade Wotshername. Sure, I have a feeling of regret that her children will grow up without a mother, but I’m afraid that’s about it.

Personally speaking, and I might be a little controversial in saying this – AND it will be the one and only time I mention on the forum at all, I regard myself as rather fortunate in being diagnosed with cancer recently.

I regard myself as fortunate insofar as there are many other people all over the world with worse health problems (i.e. immediate life-threatening) than I have, some of whom will never get any treatment, nor even receive any pain relief (OK, the pain relief isn’t doing me much good at the moment, but at least it is available to me!).

PS

Um, I’d rather my own health issue didn’t become a focal point of the thread, I only mentioned it in reference to how lucky I am to be in the position to receive treatment when others are left to suffer through no fault of their own). Having said that, I am having surgery on Wednesday – Belgian chocolates and a Darling Devon Dumplings subscription gratefully received in lieu of flowers

Darkhorse, I had a gut feeling about this.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. xx

Apparently, every minute a man dies of prostate cancer. Maybe Jade will consider giving some dosh to prostate cancer research seeing as how she has two sons.

My 81 yrs old friend died recently from cervical cancer - her last few days were agonisingly painful and horrid for both her and her family and loved ones.
No one bothers with 80 yr olds when it comes to cervical cancer tests. Her death (and dying days) were no better nor more acceptable than a 27 yrs old's. But Olive was not a 'celebrity' so no other 80 yrs olds around the country rushed to their doctor for a test....instead they continue to sit at home wondering why they 'hurt down there', doing nothing until it's too late.
Cervical smear testing shouldn't be about being a young age, nor done just because some reality celeb has her face on the front of all the newspapers.

Interesting comments.. and i agree too.

I lost my Dad to cancer not too long before christmas, and it is enough hell to witness someone so close having to go through it, let alone how it must be for them.

Jade has my sympathy, and my thoughts are with them, but what angers me the most, is how it wasnt that long ago that she was seen by the general public as one of the most annoying people in the UK, then as soon as the cancer news comes out, everybody shows a completely different face!

I really disagree with the amount of news coverage and television ad's there are though.. Think about some guy sitting at home, thinking he hasn't got much time left, and then there's Jade Goody on tv with a huge cheesy grin promoting her wedding story in a magazine.

I respect how she's making money for her children and stuff, but by no means should cancer become a form of entertainment in a magazine, and it's abismal how it would have become a handsome money maker for the press too.

This looked quite amazing on the news today, the CyberKnife. We need some of these in this country.
Apparently they will save the HHS money.

I didn't know about this. Good luck Stu and I hope you make a full recovery.

I'm lucky to be living here, apparently people still die of diabetes around the world.

I do honestly feel sorry for the girl but she is fairly kicking the sh*t out of it for the paparazzi. Surely she could donate some (not all, but at least some!) money to cancer research to stop anyone else going through what she has? It's beginning to irritate me a bit reading about it now, she's not the only one coping with this disease but the way the press are making it out she's mother f*cking theresa! Millions of people have cancer, but we don't get to read about their bravery every day in the paper because they're not a 'celebrity' (I refuse to call someone who got their 'kebab' out on Big Brother then made a living out of it a celebrity)

What has she honestly done that has changed the world? Apart from calling Shilpa Shetty 'Shilpa Poppadom' I honestly can't think of anything else she's done in recent years. Can you?

Christ, look at the economic climate, the stocks are falling daily, shops and businesses are going into administration left right and centre, people are losing homes/jobs at a record rate yet this woman is getting more media coverage.

WHAT THE F**K!?

Like before, I do feel sorry for her and it's a horrible thing to go through, but the world is in free fall just now, I think there are more pressing matters at hand that are going to affect us all for years to come than reading about her wishes for her boys - which in my opinion should not be whored about magazines and newspapers, it should be a private family matter.

Personally, I won't be reading any more about it because I simply do not give a crap anymore.

Rant end.

(p.s. sorry if I offend some people with this, but it really is just getting beyond a joke.)

oh and quick edit, the Harrods boss gave her a £4000 dress to wear to her wedding. ARE.YOU.F*CKING.KIDDING.ME.

put it into research!!!!! aaaaaah I'm going to stop talking about this before my head explodes!!!

I cant believe people are saying the things that they are saying on here. You have friends dieing of cancer and you dont want to see Jade suffering, well dont look. If it wasn't for her, there would be many more girls dieing RIGHT NOW - there have been many cases of cancer discovered due to the increase in women being checked due to reading about/seeing Jades plight. And even if her suffering only saved one life, surely that would be worth it. And as for the money she is raising for her children, put yourself in her shoes. Would you want to know that your children were to be well looked after after your death, or would you rather they had to 'make their own way'? I say well done Jade, you are a very brave woman and what you have done for others is exceptional.

fair point but as RG said (i think lol it was something along these lines and i totally agree), it shouldn't take someone dying to make people go to screenings, they should be going anyway.
