I hope summer isn't over! It hasn't even started! I don't mind the early sale of Christmas stuff because I love winter and the holidays so much, but it does get a bit extreme and gets earlier and earlier every year. Maybe summer merchandise isn't selling that well?

I work at the head office of one of these big stores - reason for the sales is that all the big multiples and retailers have long lead times on stock of BBQs, patio furniture etc, as it is ordered months in advance and takes time to manufacture and ship (5 weeks) from the far-east.
We all get the same weather forecasts etc which we use to plan our distribution, and our warehouses can only hold so much stock, so if you get a couple of weeks of unseasonable weather, people don't tend to buy this stuff and it starts 'backing-up' at ports etc, so we have to drop prices to start shifting it.
Its never been a better time to buy really as it's all prime stock at bargain prices at the moment.

scubawallace

its half bloomin eleven and I'm on the verge of sweat again! in my scants too...

I'm going to have to retrieve the arcaic old aircon from under the bed which I hate to do because it is so energygobblin! But I have a flat roof, the sun is on it all day plus the front wall. I cook without the aircon!

The trouble with London is the humidity! When the air is damp the sweat stays on your skin. When its reall dry - like in Egypt, even in low 40s celcius, no problem at all really as long as I moved reasonably slowly lol

global warming eh? Every year, there will be new things to notice and attribute to global warming, every year some things that at first seemed good will become thought of as bad and every year those things already thought of as bad will get a degree worse...

and that is original, straight off the top of me 'ead. If you use it, I want it quoted and attributed to me and I want royalties!

It is just starting here.....yesterday about 28 degrees....today about 30 degrees......it will probably reach 35 degrees in June or July...I am sure this will be one of the hottest summerrs this year....you know, global warming etc .

On Friday it is going to rain - and it will still be around 27 degrees...so quite humid..but that's "cool".
