dont go 2 dublin that often, but i enjoyed the Guinness tour, but where ever u are staying they should have leaflets in reception area of where 2 go, if not try tourist board in dublin, or even post this in the dublin forums, u may have better luck in there

Hi Nelboy, don't know what you're into so its kind of hard to recommend. If you had a specific interest or thing you wanted to see/do... There are pubs everywhere, but you should head into the city centre - its not far from wherever you are around the Phoenix Park. Try the Temple Bar area - it works for most! What races are you coming for?

Do's and don't's - pretty much the same as any big city: avoid hassle after dark!

A friend of mine came back from Dublin yesterday, he stayed mainly in the city centre, but said he wished he had headed out of the centre a little, it was very touristy lol, and he didn't meet any Irish girls!!

I going home to Wexford in 2 weeks, sooooooo looking forward to it!

Hiya Rastip - yeah, but he only has a weekend so he can't go too far. And I couldn't recommend any of the suburbs - ha, he'll meet even less irish girls there.

What part of Wexford are you from - the sunny SE eh?...bring some with you

lol Darkle, thats true about the outskirts!

I'm from a tiny little village called Ramsgrange (although not so tiny anymore Sad ) but the beach is only a mile away so I'll be happy!

temple bar area it is then!! not after much, just some good food, great beer and enjoy the atmosphere. not a lot of time as during the day is the racing but providing theres no mishaps with the car it leaves the evening free to explore!!!! Very Happy were coming over for the phoenix park races and in the crossle sportcar challenge. After speaking to loads of people i get the idea its a place to fall in love with so hoping to arrange more visits too!

If you have longer than a weekend, you should try and get out of the city if you can. And I don't mean the suburbs!! - with the exception of 2-3 locations on the coast, there are not really any burbs that I can think of a reason to visit. Kilkenny is nice (plenty of bars, restaurants and that 'craic') and is within reasonable distance from Dub. If you go via Wicklow you can get some really great scenery in too. Wexford's supposed to be lovely but its a part of the country i don't really know - Rastip's your bet there.

Cork's a cool place too, but a bit further (good train service though). After that I'd send you towards the West or South west, but you'd need longer than a week really.

In Dublin if you start in the Temple Bar area (between the river and Dame Street), over towards Trinity College or south down either side of Grafton St and George's St., you can't go too wrong.

Also if you are the P Park races, ask around there where people are heading after.

If you can, try to get upto Belfast. Top City and full of real people. Don't worry, it's quite safe these days

I'd have to agree with the Temple Bar idea... great place to go for a few drinks and a giggle.... if you're into clubs, Spirit is the place to be in Dublin.
Phoenix park itself is a great spot! There'll be people there for ages after the races, I'd imagine..... was like that last time I was there. Also in the park is the Zoo... my fav place lol... and it's just fabulous for a walk, if you're in the mood.
A good pub in Temple bar would be Daniel O Connels... but there's dozens to choose from...and right around the corner from Temple bar is a theatre....should be something on there, too, if you're of a mind to go. There are plenty of comedy gigs there.
And if you're into drag acts or similar, the George is in Dublin, too.....now that's a great spot for a laugh!

Hope you enjoy your trip.
