Right I have an important interview tomorrow. I am good at interviews but I am getting nervous cos I need this job for so many reasons.

Is there anyway to keep my nerves at bay and my mind focussed?

Also if I don't get this job how can I keep my spirits up?

I like doing something physical like walking or some simple and repetative task - gardening maybe? Something that takes up just enough brain-power to cut down the nerves a bit but still allows you to focus on what you have to. And while your doing that repeat some little positive thoughts as in 'I'm going to get it', ' I'm the best one for the job and I'm going to prove it' etc.

as for after, Bams you don't think about after, there is no such thing as after, after happens after! Focus on tomorrow - be positive, positive thoughts only, built yourself up...

go to boots and buy some herbal kalms, or you could do what my sister did and go to the doctor, she kept failing her driving test because of nerves and they gave her half a beta blocker for it!!!! i was given 2 tepazepam in hospital as i was really nervous about my ops they make me spaced out - i wouldnt actually recommend the last two things but try the herbal kalms and do some deep breathing and give yourself loads of time to get ready in the morning before u go! good luck!

One word - VALIUM
Or failing that, just chill out tonight, have a hot bath something nice for tea and off to bed early. Get up in the morning, feeling refreshed, keep thinking positive and telling yourself they'd be mad not to give you the job.

I get very very nervous. I have just come back from an interview with an agency and luckily I was left sat waiting so I did some deep breathing (with hold) and tried to be cool. Easier said than done (and I'm certainly no expert) but I've had soooo many interviews it's sort of hit and miss. One interview will go well and I seem confident and the next interview I might be a sweaty mess. Early preparation won't really help, you need to psych yourself up 'just' before you go in. Do you know what I do sometimes? I'll find a seat about 1 or 2 minutes away from the interview to gather my thoughts. I concentrate on the trees or the wind and 'pretend' (note - PRETEND) to be confident. If you believe it, then they will too. And as one final thing to help you - You won't be as nervous as I get!!! Take comfort in that. Good Luck !!!

Oh .... one more thing. I've had interviews where they are just as nervous. Sounds strange but if they don't do it often then they might be nervous too. One final thought - Picture them with no clothes on !!!!! It might make you laugh out loud in the interview - but you'll be relaxed !!!!!

Try and think of all the good things you can do if you get it and how cool it'll be. All other thoughts can wait until you have to deal with them.

Mine is sort of the opposite of your situation, I'm going from temp to temp job not knowing for sure how long I'll be working for and that I'll definitely be able to pay the rent. Luckily, throwing pennies away over the months has helped ease that over time, but I have so many things I could do with spending money on, that have just had to wait.

Unless you're truly stuffed, somehow, the real worst case is just having to hold out and look for something else, or find some sort of temporary work that might pay better than being unemployed. So long as you've your health, a roof over your head and able to eat .. you've nothing serious to fear and be nervous about

keep nerves at bay by having a lobotomy. or perhaps you could pretend to have had a lobotomy and they will take that into consideration during the interview?

and best advice i can give about keeping your spirits up if you dont get this job, is keep coming on flirtbox and read the nonsense that people seem to post on here Rolling Eyes Laughing

Have a positive approach, you're gorgeous, i'm sure you'll be fine Smile

Always remember that they wouldn't be interviewing you to start with if they didn't already think you could do the job from the info you've supplied on your CV etc.
If it's a large company you are unfamiliar with, go to thier website, read up as much as you can about them, print it out and take it with you, revise it before you go in, try and spend some time beforehand 'people-watching' the place, try and get a feel for the general mood of the existing staff (most applicants that reach interview stage in large companies are there for 'selection', which basically means they're seeing if your personality and 'look' fits in).
If it's a small company they're probably a little set in thier ways, and want someone who fits into some existing role, a clone of the previous person, if you can find out what they were like and replicate it then you've got a good chance of getting the job.
And...No matter how much you want the job, or think you are gonna get it, always assume that you wont, and treat it as a rehearsal for the next interview - remember what goes well and what doesnt, so at least if you don't get it then you'll be able to use the experience to not repeat the same mistakes!
Good luck Bams
Very Happy

Now seriously everyone. I am very greatful for all for help. I know the company well as I temped there last year. they have asked me to apply so I have a goodish chance.

Just need my mind to focus tomorrow.

And Dave you are right I really don't have much to worry about if I don't get this job. Might have some temp work lined for next week as well.
