I wonder how many relationships/friendships/marriages etc...the internet has fucked up. I mean really. I know i have had two scuppered because of Facebook and other networking sites. It wasnt such a bad thing i guess, i found out one guy was a complete arse and still with his ex, and the other, my actual boyfriend at the time was flirting with other girls, wasnt a nice way to find out at all.

I find myself reading things that someone might have posted (not necesarily on here) and if i have started chatting with them and its gone a bit further than "Hi how are you..." i read their posts differently. Why did they write that? Are they referring to me? Should i message them and find out?

Its all so stupid!

Seems like in both those rather than the net scuppering them it saved you time.

Yeah, this is very true, but the last point about wondering what people are posting and why...it might not have anything to do with you, yet you can probably apply it to yourself and so you start going (to quote Chikhai, cos i love this word) "Batshit".

Its like cheap ridiculous fu**ing horoscopes.

Taureans! Today you will have an excellent day and something nice will happen, but then again you might have something really shit happen to you too...

Its true what you say. If I'm in a relationship I tend to disappear off sites like this (for obvious reasons), unless we're in the market for an 'extra'.

Facebook stays intact as its just a friends thing, and relatively private. Well, unless you're completely clownshoes.

Forum drama/paranoia is a bitch to crack though. I've always thought 'wait a minute...' when I've read some stuff from people I've been involved with, but then thought better of it. It ain't easy to walk away but its the better option.

Chikhai has said pretty much what I'd say.

The Internet can be evil, but it's also in how you use it. The way I see it is, if you're actually in a relationship with someone, then continuing to flirt / mess around with loads of other people online is downright disrespectful to them.

So it depends on whether you actually respect your partner.

Something I've noticed quite a bit of -- I've used some of the dating applications on Facebook from time to time, and got a few dates from them. I've also sent messages to women on a few occasions and it's turned out they're married. They say, "I'm only on here for a bit of fun."

Am I a totally old fashioned git or does it just seem wrong for a married person to be on a dating site? It does to me. Regardless of whether they actually intend to cheat. I mean, maybe they enjoy the attention, but if my wife was pissing about on dating sites getting "attention" from all these random blokes then I would have to seriously suspect that our relationship was fucked.

Once again I think it all comes down to respect. There's nothing wrong with Facebook per se, unless your partner is using it in a suspect way.

That's probably the most well thought and accurate post I've ever seen on this site !

It's not really the internet being evil though, its the person using it inappriately. The internet is just the latest form of communication, before that it was sneaky phone calls, and before that sneaky letters. The difference is that the internet is so wide reaching and accessible

All completely valid and true points.

I agree completely with it being shit when people still dick around on dating sites when they are with someone, it does come down to respect.

This is why i only ever date men that are older than me. I find that most older men dont bother with head fuck games.

Meh. Who knows.
