Pol - I dunno how serious you are, but if you've got Faulkner and Gardiner's works to start you off they're a bit heavy going (people tend to jump in at the deep end on this). Get this and it'll save a lot of frustration. It's still a bastard though.

Jinja - Yup. They love a gaijin with a dodgy accent too. It freaks them out.
