Can tell you have teenagers Tracy - I could not understand a word of that text speak!

I have to confess, I take ages to type texts on my phone. Not just because I don't like the pad but I have to type every word out properly, with the correct punctuation (hahaha, sorry, just laughing at my own spelling inabilities and me saying I have to type properly on a phone).

The same goes for stuff like "lol" and "rotflmfao". I used to use all of that rubbish but now I really see no point. I had to go to lengths to stop me when I returned to t'internet after a years break a while ago.

Sorry, I'll have to cut this post short. I've heard that the local shop has a special on some slippers and I need to get a new pipe whilst I'm out as well.

lol i use the occational text speak as in rolf lol and such. but i also send ridiculasly long texts to people as i hate text speak. i am terrible with punctuation though. i always forget the ' . , making it one hell of a lot of nonsence

I use txtese depending on who I'm texting. If it's the kids or my boyfriend I use it as much as I can be bothered, anyone else and it's usually things like "too;to;two = 2" "for;four = 4" "why = y" and a few other little one's, but only the obvious ones.

When writing any other way, it's proper English all the way..... well, kinda Wink

And the shift key.

*hides*

I can see txt speak speeds things up for the sender but as a reader it takes me ages to decipher what they were saying. So they end up waiting longer for a reply. Mr. Green

"Im going to be good at the weekend"
and
"Im going to be home at the weekend"

Same buttons, very different meanings. Predictive text is bad.

Text speak is good for phones, bad writing messages on a forum.

I have yet to get a correct word from predictive text. It's a Sony Erricson that I use.

Hey look, here's me moaning about typing properly on the phone and I bugger up the topic title. It should have been "I'm a grumpy old fart, aren't I?"
Oh dear...

Yeah that really bugs me. I've actually corrected people's spelling on myspace comments, I'm that sad. Very Happy

You can forgive people on texts when they're limited to the number of letters they can use, but on a forum you've got as much space and time as you need to write PROPERLY. Can you tell I'm a teaching assistant? Smile
