It makes me so mad that i have to laugh or i'd probably cry !!

Why do people not proof read their profiles before they click publish or whatever the button says ?!

here's an example..

and of course, my favourite one, "i hate rudeness" yet they don't even bother responding when you send them a message. i care not whether that's because women get 10x's the amount of messages as blokes... Rudeness is still rudeness which ever side of the fence you happen to be sat !

So, c'mon folks, i want to see examples of BOTH sides being hypocrites on their profiles !

I don't think that was the best example as you can spoil someone without spending a penny on them.
You can spoil someone by letting them put their feet up and watch TV while you wait on them hand and foot and I don't know anyone that would object to that.

I have seen a few profiles though that contradict themselves but text can be taken out of context at times so I give people a chance first unless its a biggie

Why settle for a hypocritical profile when you can have a hyper-critical one, and even a hippo-critical one in some cases...?!

Don't get me started!

Never mind when the profile text does not add up, what about when the username patently contradicts the accompanying picture(s).

For instance you can come across a "sweetcheeks31" but from the photo you can see she's rocking some week old stubble.

Or "genteeljane" pictured sozzled in a pub/club toilet- the men's room at that.

Sheesh!

Now I don't even bother looking at profiles. I used to read the guestbook comments for their comedy value but even that required going into the profile first. Screw that I say.

To try to cheer you up, for you sounded despondent and pissed off with all of this, just as I was/am. And yes, I post much, but not for much longer. Permanently gone in a week, so the bandstand will be all yours.

why the self imposed time limit by the way?

Because... this site is a complete waste of time for seeking a relationship through, and every potential date has proven to be either insane, a tripe hound or pig ignorant on contact. So... as my personal circumstances change this week, i felt it best to make some positive decisions - quitting here being one of the minor ones. I'd rather invest my time in something with a reliable outcome and not an open-ended black hole relationship-wise. 30 out of 35 profiles are now fake (see the registration dates) on here anyway, so that is why I have set a time limit. I don't need the aggro any longer - hence the decline in wit as of late. the one pairing-off (when it lasts) per 10,000 members does not offer the massively increased positive odds and qualities to be found elsewhere. that's all i can say really.

You joined f/b on the pretence that it's a sure thing to find someone ?. I realised in a week that this place was for amusement only - you seem like a switched on fella, I'm sure you noticed that a bit sooner ? If you want dates, join p.o.f.

This is hilarious. The simple answer is, people - women especially - don't actually know WHAT they want. So we guess and moan when our partners fall short of our expectations, even though we don't ACTUALLY know what floats our boat. I'm generalising here, obviously. I do understand what you're saying but the human mind is complex, how could we possibly put our inner-most thoughts, desires, needs and wants into 500 characters or whatever it is? Or possibly these people you speak of just aren't that bright? HAHA.

It's highly unlikely that you're going to meet the 'love of your life' on an internet dating site anyway, very few are actually out to find love and romance, they're either out to make new friends, pass time or get laid. Finding love isn't meant to be like paging through an Argos catalogue and finding exactly what you're looking for (like that ever happens anyway), it it was, it would hold little to no value.

So if contradictions are the theme of the profile -- allow it -- surely there are more important things in this world to waste countless hours on.

There is indeed... i'm in total agreement with more important things like standing in bars, pubs and clubs at weekends talking about television shows, pop music, who peeps want to shag, a bit of drunken politics, how hard people's studies or upbringing was and how crap their job is...! There's nothing more important than that when compared to internet dating!!!!!

About the rudeness thing- I am guilty of it, if I receive an e-mail, I will only reply to it if some serious thought has been put into it, some are so obviously cut and pasted... and sorry, but I receive 10 emails a day from people, most of them just saying "hi" and nothing else, or from people wanting a naughty time! It's nothing personal- if you like the look of them, just keep trying?

Pics and profiles should be taken with a pinch of salt [imo], and the big problem with these sites is the 3 men to every women.

I even have a statue of myself in the local park. People view it with morbid curiosity and then walk on to the ice cream van and toilets, so not much difference there...!
