Taken from Bliss23's Question on another thread...

I'm just going to say how I realize it. Feel free to add yours.

I realise i'm falling when...

...I wake up in the morning and the first thing I see is a face on the pillow next to me drenched in sunlight, hair dishevelled and breathing quietly, eyes wide shut and a soft hand upon me.

...when we walk in the park, how a hand slowly finds its way into mine, and smiles are passed around - genuine ones - ones that allow you to continue speaking without actually saying a word.

...when after a good laugh we fall silent, and yet the silence is so comfortable.

...when I say it's odd that i'm falling for her, and she thinks, then replies, "Don't fall for me, Grow with me."

Realisation is wonderful, no?

Truth is... I don't know... I really don't... But if I may take some shots at it...

"For me it's waking up beside you
To watch the sunrise on your face
To know that I can say I love you
In any given time or place
It's little things that only I know
Those are the things that make you mine

And it's like flying without wings
'Cause you're my special thing
I'm flying without wings."

I used to think that being in love = seeing the loved one's face in everything beautiful you look at... I don't anymore.

Truth is... I find myself in what Lil Vixen once said on the Show me topic. Love isn't about finding someone you can live with, but finding someone you can't live without. When I feel I can't live without someone I assume it's love. I don't know if it's right or not, maybe it's just a question of fear and egotism...

Other than that... I don't know. THat's how I realize I'm in love these days. Might change... Will probably get back to this at some point.
Anyways there's such a thin line between love and other feelings that it creeps me out. Rolling Eyes

t'is a very broad question which i shall try and explain an answer to from my own point of view..

the 'daydream' phase, where you sit and think about someone - without realising that you've been sat, staring at gawd knows what for a good few hours.

Or when the phone rings and you wonder if it's her - generally if it's not, i phone her straight after anyway to find out how she's doing and stuff

or, when your going to meet up with her and you get that strange warm tingly feeling in your stomach and you realise that your walking at close to the speed of sound just to spend an extra few minutes with her..

when your out somewhere, holding each others hand and you look into her eyes and it takes your breath away

and of course my favourite, When the two of you can slouch across the sofa in silence, just holding each other and knowing (within reason) what she's thinking about.

It's probably not a very good interpretation, but for some reason, i can't seem to put to words how it feels or how i know, i guess, the simplest explanation, would be " I just know "

I'll let you know when it happens to me mate.

Not trying to be a downer, and I'm not looking for sympathy, but simply stating I cannot answer at the moment because I have never felt it.

Westlife - have you ever been in love wrote:

In morning light
Half awake and half asleep
Have you ever laid there thinking
Was it all a dream?
But you reach out and she's there
Every moment, everywhere
Have you ever been in love?

Have you ever felt
How far a heart can fall
Have you ever stayed up waiting
For a telephone call
Just to hear her say hello
Cause you miss each other so
Have you ever been in love?

Have there been times to laugh
And times you really want to cry
Finding reasons to believe her
cause you'd die a little if she lied
And when in times of doubt
Have you ever tried to work it out
But still she leaves you wondering
What it's all about

And when she's far away
Have you ever felt the need to stray
And tried and then discovered
It just doesn't pay
Cause with her, you can be true
And with her, you can be you
Have you ever been in love?

Have there been times to laugh
And times you really want to cry
Finding reasons to believe her
Cause you'd die a little if she lied
And when in times of doubt
Have you ever tried to work it out
But still she leaves you wondering
What its all about

And when the night comes down
Can you call your house a home
Do you dream you're still together
And wake up alone
Have you ever been in love
The way that I'm in love
Have you ever been in love?
Have you ever been in love?

Says it all really

that experience makes
us feel completely alive.
Where every sense
is heightened,
every emotion
is magnified,
our everyday reality
is shattered
and we are flying into the heavens.
It may only last a moment,
an hour, an afternoon.
But that doesn't diminish its value.
Because we are left with memories
that we treasure for the rest of our lives.

The original question is a trick question, as there is no such thing as love. The word love was invented to give lust a respectable face.

On the other hand, one could say Lust is as a byproduct of Love. Lust is taking off your jacket the moment you get the 'go ahead' look.

Love is taking off your jacket to make a temporary shelter from the Glasgow rain while she shares a blueberry muffin with you on the steps of the RSAMD. Laughing

According to many popular myths (e.g. the story of Adam and Eve), I think Lust came first (bites his tongue in order not to make early morning crude innuendo).

Um, love is when she uses your toothbrush and you don't get cross about it (and then she brings - and leaves - her own toothbrush anyway).
