I agree with that. There will be some faking to seem as though they're better than they are, especially when on their profiles it shows what threads they've posted on recently. It takes a while before you see what someone is really like, when they've let themselves go a bit, comfortable with you. But as with most forums there's going to be masks on people, some people will be genuinely pleasant and some will be arseholes. It's how the internet goes.

Hiya Teggs. Nice to see you're still around fella. Hows tricks?

I figured I'd poke my nose around the forums again seeing as I'm now 'back on the books'. Well, not that you'd ever see anything resembling dating on the forum, but its still good for shits 'n' giggles.

Anyway, regarding the fakers; there have been some huge fakers here in the past. Once they're outside of the forum and you get to know them a little better the facade drops. The difference in forum persona and actual person can be quite startling. But, yes, that is the nature of the internet. It always has been and always will.

You'd still hope that, given the nature of the site, people would be a little more honest. False advertising and all that. Still, when the panties drop the bullshit stops.

Thats so very true ........ was only chatting about you other night in London with some very honest FB members about how it was good to see you back ....... Never any fear of you not being honest in your posts is there .......

Things are well.

I think for many people it's about forming the perfect impression(on dating websites) and then after meeting someone and getting with them it's a case of easing into what they're really like in the hopes of that person not noticing. It's then they finally realise, "wait a minute...".

Its a funny thing, I've been thinking for weeks, of starting a thread on both forums I go on about honesty on dating sites, and how some people are not always honest when it come to pictures, profiles and persona's.

True. The honesty aspect can be looked at from another point of view. It is about promoting your best side. Are you going to say ' I have very smelly feet' or I don't wash that much' and 'I leave my clothes on the back of all the chairs' or 'I am comfortable with not changing the cat litter'.What are your bad points?

Personally, I am clean, though if haven't showered and pick my nose I wipe it on my chest or arm. When I pick my big toenail I then use it like I would floss. During the first 15 min in the morning I am likley to tell you to fuck off if you talk to loud. When I watch a film Don't talk.

In the pub you put your best foot first, why not on a forum. But it's a forum, just a forum.

Agreed 'promoting your best side' is being honest. But we are talking about people that's not being honest and put on a front, for good or bad reasons. They ruin it for people that are promoting their best side, in my opinion.

Ruin is a bit strong. They make others wary of the sort of people that are out there in internet dating land - which isn't a bad thing really, but I wouldn't say they have a great effect on those of us who are honestly promoting our best sides.

How do you know what kind of person someone is until you meet them? If someone comes on here with a great persona, you take them for the way they come across. Fair enough, if that's the way they are in real life. But often they ain't in my experience. They ruin for the more honest people because they tend to get most of the attention on the forums.

Going by what some are saying we should all put on dishonest fronts..cant say much more or might be accused of being a sexist

You don't. You take your chances.

They get attention from the sort of people who are interested in that type of person. That may be most people, but are you really looking for someone who is like most people? There are some out there that are not impressed by that and they are the honest people you are talking about.

Why would you be accused of being sexist?

From what I have gathered, the majority of members who post on the forums view the forums as somewhat divorced from the dating side. Many in fact are either in a relationship or simply not looking.
Surely, ALL threads should simply be whatever the forum users wish to discuss? Why should the majority of threads be light-hearted and fluffy? Fact is, they are, but why 'should' they be? Because its Fluffbox, ooops sorry I mean Flirtbox?
Laughing

The forums should not be viewed as 'divorced' from the main website. Just beacause most people on there don't come here does not mean they are not part of the same website.

Forum members are free to talk about whatever they wish. But not everybody wants to talk about their lives or serious issues. Some just want to flirt and have a bit of fun.

Being 'Flirtbox', a dating site, this is our bread and butter. If people stop coming here for dating and come here just for serious discussions, then the site won't fare very well.

Divorced might be too strong a word then. Separated then? You yourself Baggie have in the past said you were 'here just for the forums' because you were sick of the lack of real dating that goes on, on either side of the website.
What I meant was that the majority of people who post on the forums dont seem to be wanting, or putting any real effort into, actually 'dating'.
And yes I think its a shame more people on the 'dating' side dont contribute on the forums.
Personally i think there is a good balance of flirty/fun stuff and serious stuff.
Just some times it gets a tad boring, or a bit same-old, same-old....or people get their knickers in a twist and get upset etc.
Nothing's perfect, but I like flirtbox.

Not bad thanks Cheeky, not bad. How the devil are you?

What on earth has happened to this place?

You go missing for a few months and it turns into Stepford with added tumbleweed.
