I really don't know how this works. Can someone enlighten me? I am looking for some good, honest conversation. Is this the chat room to be in for just such a thing?

As I understand it this thread is about the fact that there is a lack of discussion and variety on the forums at the moment and I have said that it's not possible for the forum to always fit everyone's expectations

My post was under yours but not directed at the above poster. I should have put to everyone's taste to make this clearer.

Well this is one thread of one forum of the discussion forums here.

Whether it is good or honest conversation seems to be up for debate atm, but have a look around and see what you think.

There isn't really a chat room on here.

I wasnt sure if it was a general statement or directed at me, that's why I asked. But I suspect it was partly directed at me.
But personally, I dont expect either of what you imply.

Three of the reasons people come on here are conversation, fun and flirting, and there is none of this on here for me nowadays. So I just look and rarely post.

Well its a shame not to hear from you so much, but keep checking - as I said the forum should come out of the dip at some point.

You won't find much actual intelligent conversation going on in here, I'm sorry to say it but it's true. No disrespect to anyone or anything, it's just not that kind of forum. If you want actual intelligent conversation you might be better off joining a debating forum or something.

Well I know for sure that I've said something intelligent at some point........

Just can't quite recall when or where or what it was about.

Saying one intelligent thing doth not a conversation make though.

I can only just work out that I might have said something intelligent once. Now you want me to conduct whole conversations? My teeny brain hurt.

I joined another 'dating site' for a while. Lots of discussion boards like these here. Apart from the usual flirty threads, there were some really good interesting serious debates about stuff - geared a bit towards the meaning of life and death, science and such but some people complained that it was a dating site and therefore shouldnt have such 'intelligent, sensible' topics.
In fact, those that were a little out of their depth descended into name-calling snobs, up yer own arse, arrogant, etc. which of course just means "I'm too thick to know what you're talking about but I want to say something to look smart".
Sometimes on here, someone does begin an interesting topic but it either gets stamped on by a mod *before* anybody responds, pre-empting 'possible' problems, or it gets discussed til some bozo logs on pissed or pissed off and ruins it for all and it gets locked.

I can't think of any where that has happened, not recently anyway.

I think I know the one you mean. Unfortunately I got banned from that site several months ago because I pissed off one of the "clique" who is friends with the site owner.

That's what all people who are crap at debate do - attack the person instead of their argument by trying to smear their character and insulting their intelligence, etc. You can never win against such people because they simply haven't got the brain to have a decent debate.

I think sometimes it would be better to just delete whatever post is causing the problem rather than to just close the whole thread.

It does. And yes once or twice recently.
