The trouble with a forum on a dating site is that a lot of people (not all, granted) bite their tongue, put up a front and try to endear themselves to everyone.

The thing that put me off this place was that people for the most part didn't appear too genuine. I'm old enough, ugly enough and have used the internet long enough to sniff out insincerity and goldbrickers; and there are/were a few people on here that were a bit too good to be true.

There have been rumblings of a clique for a long time now, but I really don't think thats the case. What I think happens is that when someone disrupts the status quo then people capitalise on it to put themselves in a better light. Everyone loves a hero. (Having said that there have been plenty of times when the torches and pitchforks have been more than justified.)

To anyone new this gives entirely wrong impression, and this is when it appears that there is a clique, when in reality all it is is people clambering over themselves to make the right impression. Whether this is done consciously or not I don't know, but from a relative outsiders point of view this is certainly how it comes across.

That said, forums and internet communities in general do have a shelf life. Every now and then they need a good boot up the arse.

Ahhh yes, the old torture by cunnilingus routine. I have tortured many a young poor souls with that. Oh how they screamed.

From what I've seen discussion boards have their ups and downs.

It's a lot to ask for the topics posted to be consistently to your taste as there are so many different people out there.

I'm sure the forum will come out of this dip and start coming up again eventually.
