I'm going to visit my dad for a surprise on Sunday... but I just wondered about what it's like for the dads who have kids who don't live with them. Is it just another day of commercialism or does it mean something to you...... whether you see, or get cards from your kids or even what you do about acknowledging your own dad.

Father's Day will never mean so much to me as it does this year..my dad was diagnosed with cancer end of March..so it's been a devastating couple of months for the whole family..my dad will be in hospital this father's day receiving his third lot of chemo..it will be an emotional day for me and my siblings..but we will all be there at his side to show him how much we adore and love him.. Very Happy

Thats sad news Suzie, hope the treatment goes well.

Unfortunately my dad died in 1994 and I didn't get a chance to see him before he died, which I have always regretted.

I'm not a father so dont know what its like to celibate fathers day unfortunately. But its good to spend time with your parents as you dont miss them until they are gone.

I shall be sending my father a card and phoning him to say happy fathers day.

I'm not sure how I am supposed to feel as he hasn't returned my calls since christmas. *shrugs*

I went to see my dad and phoned him from his garden path to wish him happy father's day and told him to open the door cos he'd got a delivery... he opened the door and didn't even see me 'cos he was looking downwards into the corners of the porch. He was so excited!! Razz
