I don't think I'll be using facebook much any more. The new layout is horrible. Ugh.

i agree

but too many of my friends use it as almost their only form of contact with me to stop

Its not the only way I keep in touch with my friends. Its just the cheapest.

(I'm in finance. I'm a cheap git most of the time, which allows me to do nice things when I want to.)

Today I realised how many people I know! I’m having second thoughts about keeping my Facebook page – how do other people decide whether they accept someone as a ‘friend’ or not?

When i get a fiends request on facebook I usually go through this kind of pattern...

1. Do I know who they are?

2. Do I actually like and trust them enough to give them access to my stuff on there?

3. Are we actually going to communicate on there?

If the answer is no to any of these questions then I will usually deny the request. There is a lot of personal stuff on facebook that I do not want to give to just anybody. I took my mobile number off there last year after getting stupid calls to it from people I did not know but have put it back on now because I miss the calls Laughing

Hmmm, well, my number is pretty widely publicised on the internet anyway, due to what I do (and no, it’s not a premium rate love line number ).

I think I might just accept people I know through my work, regulars from this forum, and the handful of people that I have regular contact with anyway. Having said that, most of the people listed as friends on my MySpace page are clients. Decisions, decisions .....

(and I suppose I could just not accept any applications or play silly games?)

Facebook appeals to my silly side so I kinda like a place for being playful.

I've got 135 friends, many I've never met in person, but I do hope to meet several of them in the future. I have a lot of young people that knew me when they were growing up which is nice that they wanted to add me. I do turn down a lot of friendship requests though.

42 of those friends are from this site, with varying degrees of contact, but again, some I've met and more I hope to meet.

Some people I communicate with on facebook haven't added me as a friend but we message via applications.

I just noticed last night that one of my friends has vanished from my friends and aplications, I'm hoping that they removed themselves completely and not just ME Crying or Very sad and gone into private!!

As for the applications, I just get too many to look at or join, so I pretty much ignore most of them BUT I do love my Fairy garden, Sorority Life and sometimes Social Me ( for the men Wink ). I got rid of Are You Interested, although I have met 4 people from there but it threw up too many people I wasn't interested in.

My time on fbk is variable and has to fit in with other things going on in my life, NOT the other way around.

I run hardly any applications on my facebook profile, it just seems to slow the page down if i do. Love the status comments on there. I thought Twitter would just be like facebook status updates but it turns out that twitter was actually shitter Laughing Laughing

I dont go on facebook that much, only when I get a message. There's a lot I cant get my head around like super pokes and super wall..always a bit disappointed people send them to all their friends. Also 'are you interested', get a few winks, gifts and messages, and not sure if I have to answer them or not?? Surprised

In fact there's a lot about facebook I don't understand

I'm just about to have my number sign-written on my van. I eagerly await all the hoax calls from schoolkids and people annoyed by my whiny chainsaw Confused

As for facebook, not many people 'collect' me anyway (compared to some) so it hasn't been an issue. It used to be cigarette cards, then pogs, tazos and warhammer. Now it's 'friends'
