If it means you might find the right person for you surely distance shouldnt be a barrier, so far 3 I have met have been a few hundred miles away, one in Holland., although they didnt work out I would still go for it given the chance I hardly ever meet anyone local Confused

I used to travel from Peterhead, Aberdeenshire to Stratford upon Avon every 7 days for my three days off. Used to take 7 - 9hrs each way.
That’s commitment! Or madness! Smile

You have to be certain that it's what you both want and that you're both prepared to put the work in to maintain a healthy relationship. If one person wants it more than the other then i guess its like any other relationship....dooomed!!

The ‘distance’ issue has been discussed at great length on the forum over the period of a few years now. On the whole ‘distance’ usually crops up in discussions here when it is referred to as a negative value in a relationship (or more to the point, a failed relationship) between people who have met via the internet – it seems to be less of an issue between people who have met face-to-face somewhere.

Although I myself see many positive aspects in a long-distance relationship, it is a sad fact that ‘distance’ is often used as an excuse, not a reason. In other words, one might use ‘distance’ as an easy cop-out when the real reason is more difficult to approach with someone (like instead of telling the truth and saying, for example, “Hey, you have terrible BO, I can’t stand to be near you anymore!”, or “You’re a bunny boiler, you’re starting to scare the shit out of me!”, or even at its most base level, “You’re a lousy shag, and not worth the 4 hour round trip”). People have used ‘distance’ as a reason not to see me anymore, although I’m not quite sure which of the alternatives (above, or perhaps even another?) actually applied

Gawd.. I'll let you know on that one.. (How long does it take from Middlesborough to me again?)
