I wouldn't do it Baggie, even if I thought it was a genuine offer. Mainly because I've got no vested interest in it, but also because I think the rules need looking at. It doesn't help that the site owner has zero presence here either.

3 things,

1) You have been given a reason. You don't like it or believe it, take it to our gaffer.
2) It was a genuine offer. Megs isn't about a lot, I'm at work all day, and LV can't do it all herself. Even if it was a couple of hours here and there, its helping.
3) You're right on one thing. One of my main bones of contention has been that there has been little guidance for us mods from above. Maybe if we had a bit more direction its wouldn't cause these problems.

I remember in the old days this topic would have been locked in a heartbeat because mod discussion was not allowed.

I also remember a time when the thread even deviated slightly from the OP it was
bloody well locked.

This board has gone bananna's several times and come out with new mods. Some who stayed, some who actually did their job well but were left on their own and left out of annoyance, some who were forever martyrs, and some like myself who eventually went by the wayside and never lost their mod status.

If this is a burning issue for people, then use this thread constructively and either suggest new rules, volunteer for mod status, and state what level of relaxation/moderation ye actually want.

We had a discussion for a flame thread before... cause when things are too tightly moderated tensions build among the regulars (hoo boy there were some serious/yet brillant! fights on here in our time Twisted Evil)

Turn the gripes into suggestions and maybe something might be accomplished.

Should you be moaning about god to us here? Dont you mods have a private message board to hammer this out with the boss, instead of grouching about him on this open forum? Confused

Constructive criticism is the way forward; whining, bitching, whinging etc is just not going to help the problem it will make it worse.

If you have a problem air but then try and work with the community here to solve it....

I am DEEPLY disturbed.... Razz

Not by this thread though, I was pretty much messed right up before I read this one....

Just like anything else in life, nothing is perfect (apart from my dog, she is the best).

I know that it is really easy to criticise the actions of the mods in general, but why not try doing something constructive about it?

Just a suggestion, but if someone has a thread locked and they consider it unfair, then why not just PM the person who locked it and ask why?

If I lock a thread and someone disagrees with it, then just PM me and explain why it should not have been locked, and if there is a good reason, then it will be unlocked, easy as that.

(Even though if I lock something, there is usually an OBVIOUS reason why).

The reason for the tidying up of the forum of the last week is because of 'feedback' from a user, which has been taken on board.

It is easy to send a PM to any mod here, we all know how to do it, so there is no excuse for saying that it won't be listened to, cos it will be SO much more welcome than open criticism on the boards.

If you are unhappy with the response from that, then you can always take it up with God himself, cos that is what he is there for. (as well as other lesser important things like creating the universe and stuff)

suggestions for new rules?

on another forum i've been on the mods could move threads to the appropriate section which was useful as here threads just seem to get locked if they aren't in the right section

and i would volunteer for mod status but i would probably just go mad with power

As far as the moving threads go, I think that is smoething that we will get the power to do eventually, as when the site changed to the updated version, we weren't able to move threads about on the forum.

Unfortunately, the only way to go about it for a minute will be to lock the thread and ask whoever started it to continue it in the right section.
(I know that sometimes that doesn't quite work cos the whole subject somehow loses it's sparkle when you have to do that).

I will ask Toby about moving topics see what he can do though.....

We've talked about this and decided that it would be too much for young Baggie to handle plus I don't see you as anything more than a friend....

Moving threads is a very good plan if it can be implemented, I think it would upset less people as locking can seem harsh...

Groan...

In honesty, i have the contact details of the few people on this site that have actually taken an interest in, and if the forums become any more strict, and threads continue to be locked because of a few swear words here and there, or a difference in opinion now and again, then what is the point?
