I've been a mod on countless forums in the old days when I gave a shit (mostly gaming ones, if you think this place gets fruity you've seen nothing, its like comparing crown green bowls to cage fighting), and still admin my own.

Its not a job, a career or something that anyone with an ounce (and thats being generous) of grey matter can get wrong. Being a martyr about being a mod is fucking pathetic too. Do your job properly and consistently or not at all.

I don't need to chill. Just because I haven't suffixed every sentence with a smilie for the benefit of the comprehensionally challenged doesn't mean I'm wound up about it.

When I've finished typing this I'll either have a shit or a smoke, or both, I won't be losing sleep over it.

It just irks and amuses me to see this sort of drama unfold. Especially when theres the rallying cry of 'they're just doing their job!'. We're not talking the emergency services or aid workers here. My heart can't bleed for someone who crys the fucking blues over a role they chose because it offered a little power. On the internet no less. Fuck 'em.

All I have to say on this is that if you think the rules on this board are strict, you have obviously never tried any of the other 49 billion forums on the internet most of which ban swearing completely and won't allow any discussion of anything even slightly risky.

I once got a two day ban from dating site forum for posting a joke (not even a dirty one.)

On another dating site forum I upset one their clique members and got a lifetime ban after she and the rest of the clique bullied the site owner into getting rid of me. There's lots more to THAT story.

Compared to other boards I think we have it quite good here... moderation is fairly easy going, and best of all there's no annoying clique.

Chikai, you think you can do a better job, then do it. Your experience obviously qualifies you for the job.

Titwhipper, if you are unhappy with the moderation on these forums, take it up with the owner. Like the last person did.

The few mods that are left try to treat you like adults. We have no leadership from above, so often we are lax, but we don't have the time or inclination to deal with a thousand threads like this. Now for gods sake let it lie.

It isn't strict Moose, just inept. Like the farce the other week when the only half-decent posts in this forum were locked for no plausible (or apparent) reason.

I wouldn't do it Baggie, even if I thought it was a genuine offer. Mainly because I've got no vested interest in it, but also because I think the rules need looking at. It doesn't help that the site owner has zero presence here either.
