seriously, what has happened to the forum? Its literally died!

I know the chat room topics may have been annoying to some but its not like its a regular thing and to be honest atleast it gave a bit of life back in to this dying forum!!!! The forum had died way before us chat people came here to moan, so what has happened to it?

The fun and games used to be the most used section, its not anymore!!!

Any thoughts?

Well it could be the time of year. I seem to remember summer slumps before...... I've had a relay of visitors and I know other people with children have had to vacate their pc s for a bit so may be no one thing is killing the forum.

I keep posting despite mainly being ignored [except when women want to have a go Very Happy] and the negativity

It is combination of things, I imagine.
A lot of activity came from Freda locking threads, or bumping topics, or replying to any she liked. And that’s not happening now. Activity came from Sue, posting or replying etc. She doesn’t do as much. Some of it was interaction between those two. That’s all gone.
Many of the better contributors (like Bliss, WSS, CMISO, baggybhoy, etc) are not contributing, or not contributing as they were before. Sad
(If I've missed any better contributors - don't hold it against me!)
(Oh, OK, then? If your female... Razz )
Some, like bounderushu, have left (again, again! Evil or Very Mad ). Come back! You were the best!
And some – like, say, emzz – are on holiday. Laughing
On the Handsel Scale of Happiness this lack of activity represents an improvement, since the scale is built on the premise that it’s mostly unhappy or lonely people who spend time here. That if one is happy and busy, one wouldn’t be here.
(OK, if two are happy and busy, it's even better! They wouldn't be here either! )
Of course, people who are happy and busy do contribute and a forum (especially like this one) needs those people for the balance and the hope they bring.
Finally, there have been no romances in the threads for months. And a place like this needs those too.

Personally, I haven’t contributed as much as I used to, because I’ve been pursuing my writing elsewhere and I’ve been looking for a partner in another dating website designed with oldies, like me, in mind. I’m off to the States for nearly 2 months, during which I will meet someone I met on here, so I’ll be contributing even less.
(Who said, ‘Good!’ at the back! Razz )

What the forum needs is new members contributing (where are they? Confused ) and for the older members to contribute and respond to posts (and where are they? Confused ).
Ideally that should be done with intelligence and wit, not the abuse or mockery that some first-time posters have had here. (Like that's the way to keep people? Evil or Very Mad )
It needs some stronger moderation (OK, any moderation Surprised ), with trolls, etc dealt with immediately.
And it needs some good topics.
But that's all it needs, innit!

Blue Peter used to have a tortoise called Freda... just remembered it... think I posted a Christmas card to it when I was a child, before it was found accidentally cooked in the Blue Peter garden incinerator...

I've seen loads of good contributors come and go..and come back and go again, in the last 4 years. Forums always need new posters to liven things up Very Happy

I've got an old Jean-Claude Van Damme poster from the 1980's if that's any use - from the film: 'Bloodsport'...

Ppl get bored with forums. Ive co-owned several chat sites. The forums always do well for a few months but then ppl stop using them. Im new on here and looking through the forums to find ones i can post on to get them moving again. the newbies usually keep them ticking over. But as this is a dating site ppl will find a partner and stop using the site. hence the drop in forum posts.

So there isnt any active mods?? Smile some threads have to be locked.

Ofetn it is best if mods dont post. I got involved when two young female mods were being bullied on here. More mature women took exception that these younger members were trying to keep the forums to the rules, and telling them what to do
