I think it is OK myself really, I went through a phase of doing up cars and all that myself (a few years back now).
I think is (mainly) for people of a certain age group, who would have the extra cash in their pockets to be able to afford to buy the kits for their cars.

It seems nowdays that a lot of youngsters (not much younger than me mind you!), seem to have more cash to spend than I ever did, driving around in suped up brand new Ford Focus's and Fiat Punto's etc.

I say if that is what floats your boat, then go for it.....

I own a MKIII escort cabby (I'd call it a classic, but then I would Razz ), and the only thing I have done to it was put 17" rims on it and bought a stainless steel exhaust system.

I took the wheels off because they made the car handle like crap, and I only bought the exhaust cos in the long run it is cheaper (lifetime garauntee!).

I bought a cracking Alpine head unit for it a while back, but haven't even bothered to fit it yet, cos the effort just isn't there like it used to be......

i too have modified my motor, which is actually why i started the post to find out what peoples opinions on modified cars are, however mine is pretty much the same age as meg'z escort cabby...

the only things i've done to it are uprated and lowered suspension, meaning it doesn't handle like a fish tank, exhaust and induction system upgrade, meaning that it breathes easier - hence more mpg... i'm not interested in performance, or new cars for that matter !
as for alloy wheels.. well, 15" are the optimum for track use, so that's the biggest i'll go for if i ever bin those oh so sweet Ford pepperpots Laughing

I decided a short while ago that I was gonna get a new car, I just haven't had the time to go shopping yet....
I work more than anyone I know at the moment, so time is tricky, but the longer I leave it the more I have to spend.
I nearly bought a nice car the other day, but I won't say what it was cos I'll sound like a wanker........(more than usual)

gotta be a beemer or merc then Laughing

i personally don't like cars that are newer than around '95 on wards, they all kinda look the same. If and when i decide to buy another car, i'm looking for an RS2 or an E30 325, both look smart, both 'old skool' and both good fun on a race track !

No mate, worse than a merc or a beemer,

I do quite like beemers though, E36 MTec would be nice if you are offering...
