If you have had a bad day, or a bad week and are feeling depressed then what picks you up? a piece of feel good music, a place you visit, a person?
does this work for you every time?

usually if i had a bad day i just go to bed early and the next day i feel ok again. but if it was a bad week then i would probably arrange to go out with friends at weekend or at the least arrange to get together and have a chinwag, either at the pub or at home.

i find also that watching an uplifting film can really alter mood, films about humanity, like shawshank redemption or a good comedy like Me myself and irene, i think really that laughter is the best medicine when you feel down, and its up to you to try to seek it out really. Very Happy

A bad day usually feels a bit better after a fast drive down motorway with very loud music blaring and me singing my head off...

Super

I actually don't have bad days (anymore).
I don't even get depressed (anymore).

When people start giving me grief, I light a fire,
When things go wrong, I light a fire.

Arson is the best anti-depressant.........

OMG! Not another one! I'm glad I'm not living with you I've been a nervous wreck before living with an arsonist......never again...you've blown it now ha!ha!

Music, singing, dancing watching funny films, talking to mates are all great uplifters for the blues, but most of all for me, it has to be painting and writing help to change the mood.

It's ok, I wouldn't give you grief and things wouldn't go wrong with me around, so no reason to play with fire. Razz

Every day is a bad day for me at the moment, perhaps I'm a victim of my own success at work. There are not enough hours in the day for me to get my work done and I generally never time to stop and reflect...

Learn to say "NO !" once in a while if you value your sanity and health Chet

I wish I could but then things would spiral out of control and get worse. Plus I sort of need exposure to lots of different technologies to help secure a promotion and to build my own experience....

Chet,

Speaking as someone who's been through this loop a couple of times before and is now trying to negotiate it a bit better 3rd time around, if you let yourself burn out you're not helping you or the company you work for. The company you work for will assume you're a big boy who's already worked out that looking after yourself is priority #1, and will assume that whatever you're doing is well within your limits.

I'm not saying don't have ambition, just that you should make care of self (and any immediate dependents) your first priority and work should take second place. A 'status' job title and 5K more is not necessarily the route to happiness. Hope it works out.

Mark

You guys must be sick about me harping on about bikes. I go for a ride. This does not work every time but overall success is not all that bad.
