I agree with stu totally.
And sometimes even having that 'someone special' with you, you can still have an empty feeling inside if someone else 'special' to you is not around for whatever reason.
Or other shit stuff going on.
And sometimes a person looks forward to the haven of being alone to be left in peace for a change....we are after all different, with different needs and desires, as DH pointed out.

As for the basics in life, well heck dont we all want that every day of the year, not just xmas day?
