Hey, I have to have a sense of humour about it all, if I can give it, it is only fair to take it, so call me Jonathon if you like.
But I will still cringe every time I read it......

most of the 'rude' words on my forum as changed to either spell OOPS or i'm naughty i said a rude word Laughing Laughing

it's mostly an adult site for car enthusiasts although anyone from 13+ can register, but sometimes when people realise theres no swear filter, they just kinda erm, abuse it? if that makes sense ?

no offense meant here folks,

but do you not think it's slightly dis-respectful to your parents to change your name??

it's just a question - you know me, i'm all up for each to their own.. but i just wondered?

My Grandad was very proud when I changed my name back to our polish family name, he only changed it when my Dad was 5 so he didn't stand out at school as being Polish. I've never asked my dad how he felt about it, he helped me do it so I just assumed he was ok with it......maybe i'll ask him later

I hated my name when I was younger, it just seemed so old fashioned compared to my friends names. Now that I'm older and wiser (well older anyway), I like it and would never change it. It does get shortened sometimes by friends and family which I don't mind at all either.

I'm fairly content with my name. Laura-Annie, but I usually get rid of the Annie part!

I'm Laura-Annie Elizabeth D********** (those that know me well enough know my surname Razz

I have a Latvian surname, and it's funny listening to people trying to pronounce it Laughing Laughing

When I was younger I wanted to change my name to something else like Troy or Randy - I am glad I did not now. Very Happy God only knows why must have been some sort of phase.

If I changed my first name, it would have nothing to do with my parents. My real dad is dead and I'm not close enough to my mum to care about her opinion, besides, it was a neighbour that named me after getting fed-up of hearing my parents argue about what to call me Confused

Well, I think the neighbor made a very nice choice!

My dad chose "Alice" but I had this huge Latin Catholic baptism, so I was baptised Alicia (AleeeeeeSeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhh) and then the Registrar, not being english, called me Allicky.
So my parents argued about which was my "real" name.
My second name is Victoria, after my mum's dad Victor. Alice was from my dad's auntie who hanged herself when she was 16, no one in his family would acknowledge her, on account that suicide was unforgiveable, and my dad didnt agree and wanted to respect her memory.
People usually thought I was named after Queen Victoria and her daughter Alice (both my sisters just happen to have queen victoria's other daughters names too, but they are named after family members too).

I made a bloob once, went for a job interview and casually told the boss I hated my name......he said the day before he had christened his baby Alice Victoria......oooops, I did get the job though!

That's what I dont like about my (married) surname. Its rather unique Cornish/Hugenot.
Apart from my ex, his parents, his son, our sons and one or two direct relatives, there are none others in the Uk, but hundreds of them now in australia and Fiji.
I am too easy to find.........

My surname is not overly common over here. There's a place in Texas of the same name, an Island near Senagal (I think that's where it was) and there were too HMS *****'s during the slave trade.

It means 'safe harbour' and is of Dutch origins.
