Some of my ex girlfriends used to explode when I was near them. Usually with anger at being to pissed to get it up rather than anything to do with electric.

Letmein. May I suggest candles. Not only do they not explode but they are more romantic and will impress the birds no end, save on your electricity bills and warm the house up to.

Did you know that if you put enough lighted candles under a bed it would rise up from the heat generated by all the little flames...probably.

I remember when I was yoing my parents were poor and couldn't afford to have the gas fire on so we all used to sit round a candle and when it got really cold my dad used to light it.

blimey..you were lucky..my dad couldnt even afford the matches to light the candles...
middle class eh!..lol

They were passed down through the family, my great great grandad made them out of old telegraph poles and railway sleepers....he worked for GWR and pinched them.

dont put them in the microwave or the toaster and you shouldnt have problems with them exploding too often
