Ok, this is probably gonna be a question for the fellas more than the ladies (no offence). My upper body is fine, I have good shoulder muscles and my biceps are a good size and strength...HOWEVER...when it comes down to working out it would seem my stomach doesn't want to know!!! I am very paranoid about my stomach, and am trying to at least get it flat. When I work on my stomach I can feel it firming up but 10 minutes after I stop the workout it feels normal again. Now I'm a size 34 waist, which my g.p. keeps telling me is normal for a fella my size and age but like I said I am VERY paranoid about my stomach and could really do with some advice on what the best excercise for the stomach is and what kind of reps I should be looking at completing (if the mod's feel this is best moved to the "Advice" site then feel free but nobody ever reads that thing!!! ).
Currently I am spliting my workout days between stomach and upper body, I spend one day on weights and the other doing 60 crunches, 60 leg curls, 60 sit ups and I have an "Body Sculpture"...yeah whatever...which I spend about 10-15 minutes on (if you don't know what a "Body Sculpture" is, it's a wheel in a plastic frame with handles on it) and my own rowing machine.
Am I not doing enough or can you suggest something else I should try?
Thanks in advance

If your doctor says your fine then why worry, but if it's more that you just want to feel better in yourself I would suggest reps.

Best way to build reps - works for all non-weight based exercises

- have a target - say 60 in your case

-take a bit of recovery time, do 50

-same as above, do 40 and so on

Pretty soon you'll find that your recovery time improves and your doing more than you thought you could.
Might possiblly be an idea to aim for 40, work your way back.
Easy to bulid up once you get into it.

You'd also need a combination of sit-ups, crunches, laterals and cross sit ups {elbow to alternate knee}, and burpees to exercise all the regions that you want to hit.

Remember stretches before and after - no point in being tight if you can't move.

Yeah good point but at the end of the day I don't feel good, I look at the mirror and I see good arms, good shoulders and then along comes my stomach!!! Maybe I read too many mens health magazines!!! Anyway, I will take your suggestion bout the reps and give that a try, it worked for my arms so why not my stomach right?

But he doesn't ! Thats the whole reason this topic was created. He's not asking for reassurance or compliments, he's asking for help in improving how his body looks for which he should be commended.
Sorry Hungryone I cant give any advice but there are plenty of websites which have specific workout plans for the abs.
