Toothpaste in a pump dispenser works? I can understand how soap in a pump dispenser works - displacement of air forcing soap up and through nozzle but toothpaste dispensers appear to work differently and it's ruining my life - but at least my teeth are clean...

Yeah I know there's a 'wee platform thing' but what makes that force the toothpaste out?
I mean it's not based on air displacement so how does it actually work?
I'm baffled!!

i "think" that the tube is slightly pressurised, now when you press the little thing down, it pushes into the toothpaste displacing it forcing it upwards, and the pressure makes sure the bit at the bottom pushes the rest up

If I knew where to look on the internet I would find this out - but I don't...
come to think on it ain't really that bothered about it 'cause if I find out how it works it'll kinda take out the novelty factor ...

They make it complicated so you will stand there for ages staring at it wondering how it works, all the while cleaning your teeth and hey presto your teeth get a good old scrub. I still dont know the answer though and its starting to ruin my night....

lol right ok i been told it's something to do with a vacuum but i didnt go any further into it, i think it's just little toothpaste faeries pushing it up .
