My 15 yrs old son was in a car smash a few months ago. His 17 yrs old mate had just passed his test, we didnt even know he'd decided to have a lift home, I got a call at 1am to say that a cat had dashed in front the car and his mate panicked and swerved.......off the road and sailed over a 30 feet drop onto the beach. It was seat belts that saved them for sure, except for windshield glass in their faces, they walked away fine.
He's been banned from getting in a car with anyone under the age of 30 without 5 yrs legal driving experience now.....I dont think he'd be in a hurry to anyway now!
I once caused an accident that nearly killed my other son. He was about 3 months old and I was throwing him up in the air to make him giggle, like you do. Trouble is, I didnt look up first and I was standing in a doorway, he hit his head on the top of the door frame and knocked him out......spent a week in hospital and I still shudder thinking how lucky it wasnt worse!

well....
1) when i was small (like 3) i had an obsession with pots and pans and well somehow i managed to get my little hand on one....i slipped in a puddle my nose hit the edge of the pan and it went straight through the skin an a bit of the ligament and now i have a scar which sort of resembles harry potter but it's lower heh.
2) My cousin lied to my dad about his driving license and well he drove us right into this pole which supported some electrical lines...luckily it didn't snap and fall on us..
3)Girl tripped me up on purpose and i slit my hand open. Needed 2 stitches and it hurt for a long time but she didn't even apologize she just laughed (little bitch)..

a thread after my own heart this one..
-Fell off a table that i was dancing on, on New Years Eve just gone and didn't put my hands out to stop myself so landed on my nose..and broke it
- Fell over while running.. (Drunk) and broke my hand in 2 places.. had metal pins in it (one of which has now displaced and means i have a finger which sticks out 45 degrees from my hand) and have little or no feeling in my hand
-Sat straight up after having my appendix out, split the stitches and got to hold my intestines in my hand
those are 3 of the most recent ones.

last year i slipped in the mud walking down a field i went left my right leg went right and my foot did a 360 degree rotation there was a massive crack akin to that of someone fireing a shot gun next to you anyway it turned out i had snapped my leg and ankle and i had dislocated the bone inbetween the two breaks so they had to knock me out in a&e to get that bit of bone back in as it would have caused too much pain to do it without knocking me out i had also snapped and torn the ligaments and tendons and i had severely damaged all the nerves and remaining muscles and soft tissue
i had 2 operation i now i have many pins and random bits of metal holding me together i also have a metal rod up my leg
i also had to learn to walk again
during this time i could have killed myself so many times i was so depressed and i would like to thank various people both on here and in my life during the past year for keeping me going especially when so many people deserted me
now i get pain and my leg cramps up a lot i limp and sometimes the only way i can walk is with my foot stuck out to the side if i walk down stairs i have to walk down sideways most the time a bit like a crab
it is unlikely i will ever be able to run again and at the moment i do not know when i will be able to get on a horse again ... i can do so much but i am missing out on so much too
thought i would just add in how the worst thing i have ever done affected me mentally and physically x

I have had to many to mention but one of the worst and funny at the same time happened one Christmas.Coming back from the pub a little worse for wear I was trying to put the front door key when I slipped and my head shot forward and I caught my eye lid and eye brow on the hook the holly wreath was on.Blood squirting every where I soon sobered up!Trapped i could not move for fear of more damage no one in luckily my brother came along and called the fire brigade to remove me!several hours later and many stitches I was back home for Christmas!

Aww Hannah I do feel for you!
I used to be such an active person (horse riding, ice skating and rambling were my passion) but it wasnt an accident that changed all that, but a progressive illness.
Strangely, i have found that its not the big 'losses' that have bothered me so much - I enjoyed choosing my wheelchair for the bad days - its the little 'losses' that affect me deeply - I cried when i bought an electric can opener, and hate having to swim for exercise rather than be able to get a rucksack on my back and walk for a week in the mountains.
It sucks, but you get used to it. And hopefully one day you will almost be back to the way you were. Big hugs!

i kinda know what you mean about the little things i used to leg it up and down stairs and i cant do that now ... i rejoined my gym but struggles so much i had to stop ... i hate having to swim for exercise too when i had accident in the months after i put on weight and swimming doesnt seem to do enough about getting rid of that, some people dont see past the person i am now i miss just getting a horse ready for a hack or getting on a bike and going for a ride
i also miss not being able to wear high heels
i hate my scars too

I have had 2 accidents in my life & both happened in the same place, the first when i was 14, I was having a lift home with this guy on his ape hanger motorbike & just before we got there we had a crash on a really bad bend,It was before helmets were compulsory & I was wearing a skirt too....I came off & slid along the gravel on the side of the road..ouch! I had gravel graze up the side of my leg from my knee to my thigh & my wrist to my elbow, I remember it hurt like hell, it was burning like I had been in a fire....
Well! A year later I was going out with another guy & he was taking me home & the car turned over & ended up on its roof, I climbed out the rear window, our mates were behind us in a van & so my parents wouldnt find out I said I was in the van behind & not in my bf's car. If they knew the truth they probably wouldnt have let me out again, I just had bruises to my legs this time, was really lucky both times as I could have been hurt a lots more.
The road has changed since then so I wont be having anymore crashes on that road again ![]()

Not a bad accident, just me being a clumsy oaf.
This evening i went to sainsbury and pulled the car boot down on top of my head and nearly knocked myself out. Then I forgot what I was holding in my hand and went to scratch an itchy eye and nearly poked my eye out with the car key.
So i drove home half blinded and seeing stars!

damaged a couple of nerves in my neck at karate years ago.wasnt even in sparring contests was when i was streching

I have a very long list of injuries! None of them really bad thankfully. A couple of years ago whilst playing softball I managed to go over on my ankle - it folded over on it's self, damaged all the ligaments and fractured a metatarsal. Was absolute agony but a few beers later I was still cheering my team on
Rarely a week goes by without some accident or other, all usually minor. If you see a tall bloke on the tube banging his head or walking into things then it is probably me
