You could actually shorten that term to a very well known four letter word, beginning with a 'c'.
(and sounding like 'front')

would that word be "crunt"? Laughing

Um, being pedantic, 'crunt' is a five lettered word, not four.

Crunt is also a 3-piece punk band, formed in 1993 by Stu Spasm (Stuart Gray - Lubricated Goats), Kat Bjelland (Babes In Toyland, Katastrophy Wife) and Russell Simins (Jon Spencer Blues Explosion).........here ends todays music history lesson (more trivia on Stu Spasm available on request)

i thought he was referring to it being a four letter word in the metaphorical not the numerical.

"crunt" is the word you get when you combine crone and the word-that-get-mods-tangly. google is amazing, no?

Well, I think the Canadian gay community stole the word from the name of the afore-mentioned band

....or in their case, one mediocre album. They were fantastic live though.

Stu Spasm's old band Lubricated Goat were much more accomplished at being noise-terrorists Very Happy

Don't care, other people have stolen better phrases from me than that Very Happy

(And my noise-terrorist comment about Lubricated Goat was logged here many, many years ago)

"label stable mates" - that one made me snurkle!

a snurkle is when a chuckle encounters a snort on the way out!
now you all know.

I think that particular phrase is quite often used in the indie music press. Probably more so when the review length isn't limited to a handful of corporate, label or PR approved vocabulary Very Happy I think the most widely quoted line from any of my reviews was "The tracks on this EP paint a delicate landscape of intricate interplay between keyboard, bass and guitar, with subtle drums, and were I to have a blank musical canvas to paint myself, I would have loved to have splashed it with 'Broken By The Rise'......."

I did just re-read that Crunt/Lubricated Goat'article/review' - it really was sloppy journalism, wasn't it? I can't believe I put that out like that for all and sundry to read, and have pedantically (and rather vainly) edited it this morning.

Sadly, most of the best journalistic efforts on my site are no longer online, as they were the weekly editorials, replacing each other (and I never kept any of my old articles, not even the ones that were published in print music press).

Although I haven't updated that site for almost 2 years now (apparent from the age of the latest reviews on the main Reviews page!), the most read 'reviews' on my site (even now, all this time later) are The Deadstring Brothers (the second review, and the interview/article) and The Wailing Jennys review.

Here ends my 2.30 howl.........(OK, I didn't actually post it at 2.30, cos I was otherwise occupied last night, but it's the thought that counts)

Yeh, I've been sick all day. I really want to go to A&E right now, but a) I can't find anyone who would look after my dog and b) I'd rather lie in my own bed than sit in the waiting room in A&E with a load of drunken bums.
