Hi am currently going through massive personal changes and one of the things i found a stumbling block is my vocation in life. Up til a yr ago I was a fulltime mum and carer. Now I have some time on my hands i really dont know what I want to be when I grow up!! I am confused about where my talents lie and was wondering if there are places on the net that can ascertain that through some free tests of some sort? Any idea's most welcome.

Years ago, the job centres used to have a kind of lengthy questionnaire that gave you an idea of what sort of work would suit you. Not sure if they still do it?
I do know online there are some, whether free or not I dont know, but I am buggered if I can remember what its called!
If I remember I will let you know, or maybe someone else here knows?

Edit: just found this:
http://quiz.ivillage.co.uk/uk_work/tests/career.htm
but its not the one i meant.

It;s called psychometric testing.
It might help you to go to your local job center and ask them if they do them for free.
There seem to be alot on the internet but havent found a sensible one yet! (and some are clearly not free, more of a sweetener to make you pay for something else...and not to be taken seriously).

At school we use a programme called 'Kudos'. I've found this link which might be helpful, its not just aimed at kids, i think most of the staff played around with it too Very Happy

Francis Crick once spoke of his "whisper test" with regard to what sphere of academic research to work in. Essentially he mixed with people with different fields of study and/or careers and decided based on what he felt was the most interesting.

I would also recommend putting "free online careers test" into google.co.uk and select "pages from the UK" and see what that brings up.

Good luck!
