Home >> Advice >> What To Say When It All Goes Silent
31.10.2009, 21:04 quote
This happens to all of us!
You can find yourself chatting to a girl/guy that you like, you've been chatting for 5-10 minutes and then it all goes silent, what sort of questions are you likely to ask to get the conversation flowing again?
Those awkward silence's are just painful.
31.10.2009, 23:17 quote
Yeah i know how you feel
Sometimes been talking to a girl, feel like we're getting on well, then they stop replying and the silences just stretch on
01.11.2009, 02:52 quote
Interacting with people is as much a matter of reading non verbal communication as spoken words. Body language and silences can often point to someone not finding you interesting enough to continue conversation with. Maybe you are dominating the conversation too much and boring them.
Have you been getting blunt replies that do not give you ammunition for further conversation? Simple yes or no responses or similar with no further comment can indicate they are really bored with the subject.
Are they looking everywhere else and avoiding eye contact with you? This can indicate that they are subconsciously seeking someone more interesting to talk to.
Is their body angled away from you rather than toward you? If they are angled away, this can indicate that they don't find you attractive or interesting.
Use these 3 main signs to see how they change as you talk to someone. If you see them start to become disinterested, change the subject. If you allow the silences to continue for too long, it may prove very difficult to recover so it's best to look out for the signs early and correct it before it gets worse.
Ask what sort of things they like and if you know little or nothing about it, ask them questions to get them talking about something that interests them.

Awkard Silences !!!!! for a man who openly admits he has his way with any woman he wants, surely as soon as you tell them you are a Cagefighter, the conversation will flow, like your constant bullshit ????
Oh and get one of your own pics up not one of the net, or if you did would we recognise you

Personally, if it went quiet i'd wack out an epic one liner. Or, just another ice breaker to get it rolling again. Something like "Well, i was looking forward to meeting you that much that i rushed and got my dick caught in my zip, see what i do for you?"

What on earth are you talking about, I didn't make this thread to be abused by some loser, I made it asking for advice. Get my own picture? It's a picture of me, what are you talking about recognising me for?
Thanks to those of you who have replied with decent responses, and the risk with one liners are they're a bit hit and miss!
01.11.2009, 10:40 quote
if they miss, tough shit. their loss. pull out another, if it misses, turn around and tell 'em that if a conversations gonna work theyre gonna have to put in some effort. kind of like "yano, silent but deadly thing doesnt really roll well when im tryna get your number"
01.11.2009, 10:53 quote
Yeah i get what you're saying but if i already like the girl then i don't want to risk losing her over a couple of silly one liners!
01.11.2009, 12:04 quote
it all depends on how you say it man. if you say it with a cheaky grin, you get the point accross and they'll laugh about it. just gotta perfect the way of saying shit
