becasue most of my messages get igonred and it upsets me...
I explain that they have nice pics and where i am from ans stuff
but they just brush it aside, is it my looks or something?

hi there...first msgs are difficult i agree. And i'll be the first to admit that this i find difficult too. but i would look at it this way...would you approach someone in a club/bar or street in a similar vain? or would you first just say hi and wait for a response?
what i mean is..you start by telling the person what they will read in your profile. why? curiousity will lead them to look at your profile anyway..lol The compliment you made was nice, but then you immediately ask their opinion of yours. could give the impression that you only gave one to recieve one. not saying intentional at all, but it could..
I suppose my advice really, for what its worth lol, is just imagine yourself introducing yourself as if that person is right in frount of you..that way i believe you will come across more as yourself..
or..imagine that you have just approached this person standing at a bar..now imagine saying excately what you sent in msg........
you have provided name, height, age, occupation and your likes..then you say 'you look nice..how about me? have you a telephone number?..you draw breath..
only now can she actually say 'hi'..lol

A few pointers
Dont write info what they can already get from looking at your profile.
Dont ask them to comment on something about you (your pics), it looks desperate.
Saying something is "nice" is a bit of a crap compliment - try something more individual to the person you are contacting.
Dont ask if they have MSN on a first contact - it also looks a bit desperate.
Try and establish something that you can talk about or discuss in future mails - give her a reason to reply.

Also, don't ask for a msn address in the first message, as somebody else says, it makes you seem desperate.
Don't put too much information about yourself, let them read your profile or ask questions.
