No...really...if you have a good friend, or maybe a work colleague, and they stink, either BO or shit or bad breath etc, and the subject has to be tackled, what is the best way to do it?

I reckon my own idea of leaving a printed page with 'Dear xxxx, you stink, use this ->' next to a can of deodorent, somewhere that they'll find it, is probably not the best approach.

Sit next to them with an NBC suit on.

Hmmm... your approach of setting a note out may not work the best. I would casually mention something to them like "Hey, have you seen this new deodorant/ body wash/ toothpaste..." and see if they respond to it. If they don't get the hint, then maybe be a bit more forward next time. I don't know- that would be hard to tell anyone they stink!

Very tricky - blunt might work depending on the person, or a quiet word in their ear might be better. If no one does then they will get shut out of life because of it so it might be nicer in the long run to say something. Not sure how you can do subtle ways

I had a friend like this several years ago, and me and my mates did the usual teenage thing: we took the piss. He sorted himself out though, so it got results, its just a very immature way of doing it.

I used 2 work in a small office with a guy, who had B.O, stinky feet and bad breath, everytime he left the office i was out with the air freshener and always had mints or gum on my desk, and offered him them,

I used 2 say if ne1 else came in 2 the office and they left, i would say gosh there is a bad smell in here was it that person who jus left or was it me, and hoped he go the idea, but he didnt.

That is 1 thing im always very aware of, i always have gum on me, body sparys etc

there is no way to break bad news nicely. Either do the cowards way an make a anon letter or say mate seriously sort your hygiene out. No need for names and taking the piss nicknaming him/her stinky won't be nice but the honest truth.
Something along these lines.

I told a bloke in the pub he needed to start using deodorant cos he stank...does that count. Needless to say he left the pub

In my old job i used to spray air freshner around them, there is no need to stink, its disgusting!

tell them to have a bath.

just be a little subtle like

"hey hows the job at the sewage works going"
