Yes Im afraid lycra is mandatory, and it has to be particularly tight around the rear.

Sorry but I dont make the rules!

Aradon, some people believe in a technique called 'spot reduction', which is the practice of exercising one area harder than all others, with the idea that doing so will eliminate more fat from that area, in your case, your stomach.

The problem is, spot reduction is a myth, no matter how hard you exercise your abs, you will only lose fat proportionatley over your whole body.

My advice is go on a diet. Start gradually, dont eliminate your calories too fast as this will only encourage your body to hold on to its fat reserves. Eat plenty of protein from things like chicken and fish, and get plenty of water, fruit and veg, and gradually reduce your calories each week.

With regards to developing your ab muscles, you only really need one exercise: the lying ab crunch. Start by lying flat on your back (or on an incline board), bend your knees to 45 dgrees to take the pressue off your lower back and touch you fingers on either side of your head just behind your ears. Now raise your upper back and shoulders off the floor, do not raise any further than this, you should be only a couple of inches off the ground. Hold this position for 2 seconds and tense you abs as you do so, then lower back down very slowly before beginning your next rep. Try and work your way up to 40 reps, and do this exercise three times a week

Hopefully this should get your abs in shape just in time for the summer Wink
