Don't be so stupid pathetic.
When we saw each other we acted like a couple and when people who didn't know us said we made a nice couple she never stopped them to say "no, actually we aren't a couple", instead she'd say thanks and act like we were in a relationship.
Why would I then assume we aren't a couple? If I'm investing the time and effort and acting that way around a girl and she's acting as though we're going out why should she get away with pulling someone else?
I had no reason to believe we weren't a couple and she definitely give me any indication that we weren't one.

Seriously though, I think you have to take a the wider behavioural patterns into consideration. If you love *ahem* spending time with her and everything else is fine, then try and put this one-off behind you both.
If this is part of an ongoing series of such incidents, then its time to sling her and get yourself down the clinic.
