That is no age difference at all. When I was 16 I dated a 22 year old it's not unusual.

I would advise you to stop being fixated on her. When you are in that state, you hardly know a person, but your mind fills in the blanks and makes up an idealistic back-story. Plus you keep fantasizing lots of mutual scenario's. Stop that line of thinking! It's easy to fall into doing it. Plus, it can make you feel down.
There is no girl of your dreams x 1000!
Definitely see where the friendship goes though. Meet up with her and her friends. Get to know her, and them. People often have friends that have similar qualities. It may well be possible that although you and perfect girl don't go beyond friend, you may well find one of her friends may be what you want! Don't expect that though! Just see what happens.
I suspect that when men/women meet someone, they assess whether they want friendship, relationships, love, or nothing at all with that person fairly early on, and it's always going to be hard to change categories once you've been tagged!

Oh yeah, one more thing! I would never take someone to the cinema on a first/early date! You spend most of the time distracted by a film (and a crap one at that, if it's Jumper!). Arm creeping round the shoulder clichés are strictly from the realm of crap American highschool dramas.

Oh dear, sorry to hear that. Onwards and Upwards is my motto at the moment. And you're only young so plenty of time to find the right lady.
