I work in the electronics trade and have seen Sky HD working first hand. It’s very good and the box is a decent piece of gear (HDD recorder), the pictures you can get from HD are quite stunning. At the moment there is Sky one HD and a single Sky movies HD channel. The main problem is that you will need a flat panel TV with a HDMI input and optionally a 5.1ch or better sound system to get the full benefit. I believe having HD service on sky adds £10 per month extra to your bill and the box costs around £300. Justifying the cost depends on how much you intended to watch, I believe like all things in this industry the price will come down as time goes on…

Hope that helps mate, any questions just PM…

If you want that, then AFAIC this is reallly really not worth it for a number of reasons..

The main one is that quite a lot of the programmes that the Sky Network aren't strictly HD - They upgrade the picture to HD...

If you are a Football, Cricket or Rugby Fan, then at least this is one of the benefits.

Personally I'd wait for at least 2 or 3 years, when Sky can actually furnish a channel for 24 Hours a day with HD Recorded programming.. and no doubt the quality of the picture will increase further.

My other problem with Sky HD, is that for few HD Programmes & Channels, they put a £ 10 twat tax on..

Sorry but this is urine extraction in the highest form.

Seriously, wait for 2 or 3 years, prices will come down significantly..
