I believe life is too short so if I like a guy I go up to them, some like it some dont but hey if u wait for some blokes to make the first move u'd be alone for ever.

Saying that i have been told im a tad intimiadating Laughing

All depends how women approach it, most men have sex on thier minds and are always after one night stands if available, so the thing on most mens mind is is she up for it ?

The question of the thread is should they 'come on', which is maybe a bit different then chatting up.

From my experience a women 'comming on' could be intinidating, chatting up is nice. But its always best for a women to get a mate to make the first move for you in a pub/club/bar imo.

I think I know what you mean Jeggea but the boundaries between the two are hazy and the two phrases can easily be and are interchanged.

I'd be flattered and intrigued if a woman came up to me and did either, I don't find it particularly easy to approach women with no other pretence than to talk to them. Its not so much the fear of rejection but that of silence - most people are not going to be able to talk to absolutely eveybody else me included and I couldn't think of much else worse than starting a conversation with a stranger which started well then fell flat - get out of that one!

or maybe I'm just initially very shy

So if a girl approached, in my mind in her favour she is at least confident and most likely talkative which I like - providing scuba gets a look in too heh

As Scuba says there is a difference, maybe a London thing. 'Coming on' to me is wanting sex. If I said to my mates MsIbiza was coming on to me, they'd think you were after sex off me. But maybe nowadays its different amongst younger people.

Apparently same in different parts of Britain by the sounds of it. probably why some of the views in this thread are a bit mixed.

The first thing I thought when I read your first post, you were talking about offering sex to men. Sorry don't mean to offend, maybe I'm a bit thick Smile

personally I think about comming on to someone as being blatent about it in language and/or body-language, as opposed to chatting up which is more friendly banter and not quite so in-yer-face...

yes the way your looking at it I would agree comming on is the more sexually provocative of the two but as I said I think for most of us the two are interchangable, I took the topic of the thread to mean chatting up rather than being sexually blatent.

Its just you Jeggea <in london accent> you dirty old man Laughing Wink

I had to think I must admit, but I guessed she probably meant chatting up, otherwise she would have put it in sex forum and she is a nice girl and wouldn't post something like that Wink .

But where I come from there is a clear distinction between chatting up and coming on. Maybe its my age but I am a little confused now Laughing
